Beauty and Skicare: La Mer The Treatment Lotion, Ma Chérie Hair Fragrance, and Bifesta 2-In-1 Foam Cleanser

La Mer the Treatment Lotion, $165

Between RSVP-ing for all your gilded year-end parties, a little skin primping and pampering is in order. Enter La Mer's new Treatment Lotion, a lush new pre-serum essence which will prime your face to look its polished best for all your upcoming soirees

If, like us, you're engaged in year-end restocking of your vanity chest, consider treating yourself to prestige brand La Mer's posh new Treatment Lotion.

Boasting a silky, supremely soft consistency, clinical tests show that the Lotion resulted in a pretty impressive 75 percent instant increase in skin’s hydration. And no wonder, too: The formula is an alchemical broth of 73 sea minerals and a new hero ingredient Scenedesmus, a precious algae gleaned from the desert that is said to possess the ability to lie dormant in its arid environment for years before bursting into life at the first sign of rain.

The press copy compares this product to "liquid energy", an arresting analogy that alludes to its infusion of the brand's legendary Miracle Broth, an amino acid-rich ingredient made from lovingly harvested and fermented kelp, rare algae and semi-precious stones such as tourmaline.

La Mer says that the Lotion drives nutrients into your skin, hydrating and prepping it for optimal absorption of your serums and moisturizers. Use twice daily, patting a few drops into your face and neck after cleansing and toning. Follow with your usual skincare regime.

La Mer The Treatment Lotion, $165 for 150ml, is available at La Mer counters. For more information, visit and follow the brand on Facebook.

Ma Chérie Winter Floral Hair Fragrance, $16.90

This fruity and floral spritz-on scent will be very handy to have around your house this festive season: Spray it through tresses to cut through greasy party food odours and tame troublesome flyaway hair

Roast turkey and basted veggies wafting through the kitchen this time of the year may be good for the holiday spirit, but hellish on your hair.

Ma Chérie's new Winter Floral Hair Fragrance is formulated with what the Japanese haircare specialist calls champagne honey gelee, which lends the spray a silky texture that forms a protective veil around hair cuticles that also wards off the stench of greasy festive food.

The scent itself is feminine and fruity, with citrusy top notes of Valencia orange and ruby grapefruit simmering in a warm base of sandalwood and amber. Throw in a pretty pink gradient bottle and you've got a recipe for romance – after all, Ma Chérie means “my sweetheart” in French!

Bifesta 2-In-1 Foam Cleanser, $14.90

In anticipation of all the glittery warpaint we'll be slapping on for the festive season ahead, a heavy-duty makeup remover is a must-have. Japanese beauty brand Bifesta's trio of dual-purpose foaming cleansers should do the trick

We're quite adventurous with our cleansing, having used everything from milks and oils to bi-phase removers specifically formulated for the eye and lip areas. What's remained consistent throughout our product dabbling is our double-cleansing ritual: We always follow up with a wash-off cleanser before proceeding with the rest of our skincare regimen.

Bifesta says its new 2-in-1 foaming cleansers eliminate the need for cleansing twice. A water-based formula with a fluid consistency, the product works up a fine foam and removes both makeup and skin impurities, while hydrating your skin for a supple finish.

To use, sprinkle about two teaspoonfuls of the liquid in your cupped palms, then massage gently onto damp skin in light circular motions. Wash off with warm water. Choose from formulas dedicated to dry, dull or mature skin, and lather away!

Bifesta 2-In-1 Foam Cleanser, $14.90, is available at John Little and selected Sa Sa, Meidi-Ya, Nishino and Watsons outlets. For more information, visit Bifesta Singapore's Facebook page.
