Le Port Parfumé: Fresh seafood in Kau U Fong

Looking for somewhere to sample Hong Kong’s catch of the day but don’t have the time (or patience) to trek all the way to Sai Kung? New restaurant Le Port Parfumé (read: fragrant harbour) sources the freshest seafood from local fisherman to create daily specials based on the day’s best produce.

The buzz: Sister restaurant to Bistro du Vin in Kennedy Town, Le Port Parfumé experiments with new techniques and recipes to bring out the natural flavours and aromas of their freshly-caught seafood.

Atmosphere: Situated on Kau U Fong (the side street off Queen’s Road Central), Le Port Parfumé recreates the classic family-style setting found in villages along the Mediterranean coast.

The intimate space can seat up to 40 people and features a homely bric-a-brac bistro atmosphere with vintage French lottery posters and newspapers.

Food and drink: Alongside their seafood-based menu, which is redrawn daily depending on the catch of the day, the bistro also offers an ample range of authentic vintage wines from Burgundy, the Loire and the southern regions of Provence, Rhone and Languedoc Roussillon.

The restaurant’s mantra is “Seafood should be caught not farmed. It is chilled but never frozen to fully preserve the delicate and subtle tastes and textures of each and every fish we serve.”
