Looking for out-of-the-world party peepers this holiday season? Try Paperself’s faux lashes on for size, one of the more indelible eye accessories worn by Elizabeth Banks’ eccentric character in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
Besides skyrocketing Jennifer Lawrence into bona fide movie stardom, the Hunger Games have also gained a following among fashion followers for the fabulous couture worn by the flamboyant Effie Trinket.
The campy character, played with amusing aplomb by Elizabeth Banks, can be seen making her way through a seemingly endless succession of wigs and weaves and wardrobe changes. Effie Trinket’s rococo sense of style extends to her makeup choices, most notably in her elaborate eye embellishments, which are courtesy of London-based eco-conscious design collective Paperself.
The incredibly intricate Paperself lashes sported by Effie Trinket are crafted from FSC-certified recycled paper, and come in a bewildering variety of motifs: Birds, butterflies, woodland creatures, Victorian lace … Best of all, all of the designs are sturdy and stand up to multiple wear, despite their delicate appearance.
To use, simply snip the lashes into your desired length – we suggest extending them beyond the natural lash line for extra oomph – and attach using your usual eyelash glue. To detach, peel off from the outer end and remove the dried adhesive from the flexible lashbone for future application. If you’re new to falsies, watch the handy how-to guide below, and have fun dolling yourself up for your next big soiree!
