Where are you most likely to find style at the Winter Olympics? Other than the opening ceremony costumes, the garb on display tends to be pretty utilitarian. Except for during the figure-skating competition, that is. With all the feathers, rhinestones, cutouts, and colorful fabrics gliding across the ice, you could very well be watching a fashion show — albeit one with lots of spandex.
From the Cinderella-inspired costumes worn by Team Russia to Germany's Pink Panther-inspired get-ups and the rich designs favored by Team USA, here are the best costumes we've seen on the ice in Sochi so far.
Team Germany - Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy looked ready for Valentine's Day in pink and red.
Team Russia - Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov, who won the gold medal for pair figure skating, wore mellow yellow costumes
Team China - Qing Pang and Jian Tong looked cool in red and blue.
Team China - Peng Cheng is seen here spinning in the air wearing a neon costume after being thrown by partner Zhang Hao.
Team Russia - Yuri Larionov and Vera Bazarova looked like they were wearing fantasy armor.
Team Russia - Fedor Klimov and Ksenia Stolbova were white, black, and red all over.
Team Canada - Kirsten Moore-Towers and Dylan Moscovitch wore all black on the ice.
Team Canada - You'd be smiling like Meagan Duhamel if you were wearing something this chic.
Team USA - Simon Shnapir wore a shoulder holster to reflect the James Bond medley that played while he skated with Marissa Castelli
Team Russia - Fedor Klimov and Ksenia Stolbova coordinated their maroon tops (and their moves) perfectly.
Team France - Vanessa James and Morgan Ciprès were a study in contrast in black-and-white costumes dotted with rhinestones.
Team Israel - Evgeni Krasnopolski's ombré shirt blended perfectly into Andrea Davidovich's blue dress.
Team Italy - The only thing more dramatic than this backflip, perfectly executed by Stefania Berton and Ondrej Hotarek, is Berton's red-and-black outfit.
Team Italy - Nicole Della Monica's outfit had a formal flair, which paired well with Matteo Guarise's tuxedo-inspired look.
Team Canada - Rudi Swiegers and Paige Lawrence both wore red tops on the ice.
Team USA - Nathan Bartholomay's red belt perfectly matched the color of Felicia Zhang's dress.
Team Canada - The focus of Kirsten Moore-Towers's costume, which she wore on the ice with partner Dylan Moscovitch, was blocks of bold color.
