Usually desserts with the most expensive tags are the ones that are topped with a diamond or sprinkled with pure gold flakes or served in crystal studded bowl. Some have also been offered with an option of eating it with a bejeweled spoon which can be taken back home. However the founders of Three Twins Ice Cream are back with the World’s Most Expensive Ice Cream Sundae, sans such frills, at their Fillmore Street outlet in San Francisco, California.
Before digging a spoon in to the most expensive sweet treat, dig deeper in to your pockets to shell out $3,333. For that sinful amount, you will be served three scoops of organic ice cream along with an organic banana which is topped with three syrups made from three extremely rare dessert wines – a 1960s vintage Port, a Chateau D’Yquem and a German Trockenbeerenauslese. It is also suggested to devour this pricey banana split with a spoon from the 1850s and listen to a private cellist too.
Neal Gottlieb, the Three Twins founder also stated that “The World’s Most Expensive Ice Cream Sundae was originally created as something fun for people to read while waiting in line.” He also clarified that the food cost is one-third of the price. The other 1/3 of the purchase price will be donated to a local land trust. And the last one-third share, which is about $1,111, is what Three Twins Ice Cream founders put in their pockets!
Gottlieb also suggested that “Be sure to wear your ‘I’m part of the 1 percent’ card on your chest when you order it. It also comes with a cellist who will play anything you want while you eat the sundae.” The Most Expensive Ice Cream Sunday is also available at one of their North Bay scoop shops in San Rafael, Napa or Larkspur.
