“Eat (RED). Drink (RED). Save Lives” Culinary Event Features Red-Inspired Cocktails




Chef Mario Batali and master meat purveyor, Pat LaFrieda, are leading the culinary community around the world to serve delicious (RED) culinary experiences to raise money for the Global Fund to fight AIDS from now through June 10th. (BELVEDERE)RED, created a range of cocktail recipes crafted by Global Head of Mixology, Claire Smith, exclusively for participating bars and restaurants. Pursuitist was given a sneak peak at the recipes that will be featured, which include the Honey Berry Breeze, InspiRED Aperitivo, BIG RED Mule, and Pomegranate Sea Breeze (see recipes below).

Called “EAT (RED). DRINK (RED). SAVE LIVES”, the global culinary event includes food truck favorites as well as Michelin-starred restaurants. (RED) food and drink experiences will be featured on food and cocktail menus at food and drink businesses from London to Hong Kong, New York and Dubai, including Mario Batali’s Babbo and Casa Mono and Danny Meyer’s The Modern.

In addition, Pat LaFrieda is offering US-based participants a 50% discount on three cuts of meat. (RED) partner Peroni , which is the official beer of “EAT (RED). DRINK (RED). SAVE LIVES”, will be creating (RED) promotions at a number of participating restaurants and bars.
To date, (RED) has generated more than $250 million for the Global Fund to fight AIDS, to support HIV/AIDS grants in Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Rwanda, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania and Zambia. One hundred percent of that money goes to work on the ground as no overhead is taken. Global Fund grants that (RED) supports have impacted more than 40 million people with prevention, treatment, counseling, HIV testing and care services.

BIG RED Mule
35ml / 1.5 oz (Belvedere) RED
15ml / ½ oz cinnamon syrup
15ml / ½ oz lime juice
3 raspberries
120ml / 4 oz ginger beer
Method: Muddle the raspberries. Build the
ingredients over cubed ice in a highball
glass.
Garnish: Cinnamon stick and raspberry


Honey Berry Breeze
35ml / 1.5 oz (Belvedere) RED
150ml / 5 oz fresh pink grapefruit juice
15ml / .5 oz honey syrup(2 parts honey:
1 part water)
2 strawberries
Method: Muddle the strawberries, shake and
strain all the ingredients into a highball
glass.
Garnish: Strawberry, pink grapefruit wedge

InspiRED Aperitivo
40ml / 1.5 oz (Belvedere) RED
15ml / ½ oz Campari
150ml / 5 oz San Pelligrino Aranciata
Method:Build in a highball glass over cubed ice
Garnish: Blood orange/Pink grapefruit wedge​



Pomegranate Sea Breeze
35ml / 1.5 oz (Belvedere) RED
100ml / 3.5 oz fresh pomegranate juice
60ml / 2 oz fresh pink grapefruit juice
Method: Build in a Highball glass over cubed ice.
Garnish: Pomegranate seeds, pink grapefruit
wedge
