Beauty Review: Ruby Wing's Nail Polish at Verdure Nail Spa

Want more bang from your manicure but want to stay ‘green’? You’ll love Ruby Wing’s Solar Active, completely vegan nail polish that's exclusive to Verdure Nail Spa

Are you a lover of nail polish but worried about chemicals? If this is you then you need to check out the completely vegan, never-tested-on-animals Ruby Wing nail polish from American is now exclusively available in Singapore at the Vedure Nail Spa in Wheelock Place.

The Cupcakes & Champagne collection of colours from Ruby Wings, exclusively available at Verdure Nail Spas.

Not only are these polishes vegan, they’re also “3 Free” ‒ which means there is no Dibutyl Phthalate, no Toluene and no Formaldehyde in the formula ‒ plus, the Ruby Wing brand is also a strong supporter of GLAAD, Autism Speaks, and the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund in the US (so its nice to people as well as nice to animals).

Even cooler … Ruby Wing’s Solar Active nail polish actually changes colour in sunlight! Yep, you can get two colours in one when you use this product. Mind you, this isn’t exactly a speedy process; the colour change is quite gradual and if you don’t choose the right colour you won’t see a marked change in your nail colour.

Still, that’s not a problem since all the original colours are super cool; there are even versions with glitter in them. Yep, colour changing glitter nail polish; how cool is that?

Examples of how the Ruby Wing Solar Active nail polishes have two colours.

Much more exciting (well, relaxing actually) is the service you get from Verdure Nail Spa. Perched on level 4 of Wheelock Place, you feel tucked away with a view greenery ‒ very relaxing considering you’re in the middle of the city. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly without being too in your face; you can have a wee sleep if you want to in the salon’s relaxing new nail chairs.
The full relaxing process of a mani-pedi can take up to an hour and includes a lovely leg and arm massage with Verdure’s signature and very moisturising Sakura treatment ($70 for hands and $80 for feet) that uses sake and ginger to hydrate your skin (it’s especially good for heels) and a brown sugar exfoliator plus rice oil for massage.
If you don’t have the time you can grab a Verdure Manic Monday classic manicure for just $18 (from 11am to 5pm) or the lunchtime version Workday Lunch shape and polish for $12 from Monday to Thursday (11am to 1pm).
Verdure Nail Spa has over 400 different shades of polish from a huge range of brands that also include JINSoon ‒ which is used in high fashion runway shows ‒ NARS, Layla, LVX, FNUG, Ginger + Liz, Ruby Wing (of course) and the usual OPI; so you’re sure to find something you’ll love.
Verdure Nail Spas are located at Wheelock Place #04-06, Tel: 6732 6448 (which is where I tried the Ruby Wing nail polish); Robinsons JEM #01-07/13, Tel: 6734 6713 and Robinsons Orchard Level 1, Tel: 8133 2555. For more information about Verdure nail services, go to
