J Crew's latest capsule collection is being designed by none other than Mayhem - the four-year-old fashion blogger known for her creative paper dresses. Launching as part of the retailer's childrenswear line, Crewcuts, Little Mayhem will feature nine styles including bejeweled dresses, accessories, shoes, pleated skirts and embellished tops, all under $100.
The capsule collection will be available on the J Crew website and in the style guide late next spring.

According to Mayhem's mother Angie Keiser, J Crew boss Jenna Lyons contacted her directly after discovering her blog, Fashion By Mayhem, where she recreates celebrity outfits and red carpet looks with the clever use of paper.

Jenny Cooper, head of design for Crewcuts, said that the whole team was utterly taken aback at just how adept Mayhem is at bringing her creations to life.

'When we met with Mayhem for the first time we were really curious to see how she would work,' she said in a release.

'And we were amazed to watch this barely four-year-old girl start meticulously folding the pleats on a skirt and placing stones very specifically and carefully on a top she had just fashioned around herself. She has such an inventive and creative personality that really resonated with us.'

'It was great to have a truly creative child be at the heart of the design process.'

Jenna Lyons looks on with fascination, dressed in jeans, a grey sweater and her signature thick-framed glasses. The fashionable tot, whose parents gave her the public nickname Mayhem for privacy reasons, first launched into fame for recreating high-fashion looks from the Oscars and Met Ball using basic arts and crafts materials. Her design process is just what you'd expect of a                  pre-schooler; it involves sitting on the floor, playing with paper, tape, beads and crayons and letting her imagination take hold.

After Mayhem came up with some designs at the J Crew offices in New York City, the professional patternmakers then 'sprinkled their magic J Crew fairydust on it and turned paper into fabric,' writes Ms Keiser on her blog. 'And when it was time to go, Mayhem cried. Because she didn't want to leave.'

Little Mayhem for Crewcuts, with pieces starting at $22.50, will launch in spring 2015
