Baselworld, the most important annual show for the world’s watch and jewelry industry, is in full force and Dior is making the most of it by unveiling the House’s brand new timepieces – Dior VIII Grand Bal Pièce Unique Ondine and Dior Grand Soir Kaléidiorscope, among other luxury brands.
Unveiled on the first day of Baselworld 2016, Dior VIII Grand Bal Pièce Unique Ondine pays ode to the French luxury fashion label’s Ondine dress. Featuring innumerable pleats, the outfit was created by Christian Dior for his haute couture autumn-winter 1947 collection. Set with six hundred and forty-eight diamonds, tsavorites, amethysts and sapphires on white, rose or yellow gold, the dial also exists in a graphic variation inspired by the weft weave of a fabric. Powered with a “Dior Inversé 11½” movement, the face of the watch gives an impression of a pleat in motion. Offered in an edition of twelve unique pieces, Dior VIII Grand Bal Ondine can be strapped on with a leather bracelet tinted a metallic shade or in black satin.
On the second day of the marquee event in watchmaking, Dior Grand Soir Kaléidiorscope takes the stage. The 2016 edition of Dior Grand Soir is inspired by delicate embroideries designed by Christian Dior for his dresses. Ornamented with over one hundred and eighty metals and stones, the dial features floating explosion of colors and lines. Placed behind the “Elite 681” automatic calibre movement, the pure-wrought rotor is visible through a caseback. Designed in an edition of eight unique pieces, the Dior Grand Soir Kaléidiorscope can be opted with a denim or black satin bracelet.
A glittering rainbow shines at the ongoing Baselworld 2016 as Chopard unveils the new Imperiale Joaillerie watch at the most celebrated watch and jewelry event. The Swiss watchmaker and jewelry house’s exceptional timepiece is the latest addition to the Imperiale Collection and shimmers in all the colors of the rainbow with 581 sapphires.
Drawing parallel between watchmaking expertise and high-end jewelry design, Chopard has mastered the art of creating an extraordinary rainbow effect using different colored sapphires, with shades ranginh from purple, the collection’s signature color to blue, red, yellow and lime green.
Bursting with subtly graded shades covering the entire color spectrum, this exceptional timepiece is bejeweled with 581 sapphires, totaling 47.98 karats. Set on 18 carat rose gold watch, the baguette-cut sapphires form a color scale that completely covers the dial, case as well as the bracelet. The crown and the lug-covers are adorned with amethysts.
A Chopard caliber, a self-winding mechanical movement with hours and minutes functions and a 60-hour power reserve is nestled under this luminous mantle. Also the entire movement is on display through the exhibition case-back.
The new Chopard Imperiale watch is so breathtakingly beautiful it makes one forget about time ticking by.
The French luxury house is emphasizing that Time is the most valuable by unveiling three outstanding timepieces at Baselworld 2016. Hermès woos watch lovers with Faubourg Manchette Joaillerie, Slim d’Hermès Pocket Panthère and Pocket Plein Cuir at the recently concluded international watch and jewelry event.
The 2015 Faubourg Manchette made a statement as an all leather-clad cuff watch paying tribute to the original harness- and saddle-making expertise of Hermès. For 2016, the label adds glamour to Faubourg Manchette Joaillerie by bejeweling the gold case with hand-crafted 36-gemstone baguette setting of diamonds, emeralds, blue or brown sapphires. Unveiled in 2014, the Faubourg watch is the perfect embodiment of stylish elegance in miniature, making it a woman’s perfect companion.
Hermès Watchmaker unveils a unique creation with Slim d’Hermès Pocket Panthère. Time is monitored by a great cat, panther, featured on the dial inspired by an illustration of the artist Robert Dallet. The latest addition to the watch collections of the Maison features an ultra-thin 2.6 mm H1950 calibre delivering a 42-hour power reserve.
Lastly, the Pocket plein cuir watch by Hermès stands a test in time to honor its leather and watchmaking skills, boasting a surprising fastening system and an exceptional leather sheath. At the heart sits a white gold case holding a precious dial crafted using the ancient Grand Feu enamel technique. The 54mm Pocket plein cuir is powered by the Manufacture Hermès H1912 movement and is available in three shades of burgundy, elegant grey and sapphire blue.
