It’s been a gloomy days here in Manila, we blame it on this autistic weather and no matter how much we LOVE to go out and have some fun, we Asians are not like people from the West, we prefer to lurk indoors while enjoying our hot cappuccino/tea, in my case sitting next to a warmer place at home and happily reading my favorite book, which has been lying next to my bed, untouched.
Ohh these gloomy days! When can I see Mr. Sun Bright again! Hahaha!
When can I enjoy the City of Lights each night?!
Oops, I’m not talking about Paris for City of Lights. I’m talking about your own city of lights. Mine is Manila.
I like to enjoy my city at night time. And take some interesting photos of the night, including people with lots of stories to share. I always have my camera phone with me, fully charged, and enjoy the night while walking back home from the hectic work schedule.
And with these very gloomy nights, well I admit it is difficult for me to roam around, and take some photos. So I stayed home and think of things – including the next hobby I will be interested in just to keep me occupied. I was thinking of learning how to paint, but I’m not a totally artsy person.
I tried and tried, but I haven’t finished a single one.
Maybe my heart wasn’t there and I’m distracted by something else’s.
But anyway I will never give up…
I’m thinking of a possible hobby that I could do with my smartphone coz it is the thing I always have with me.
So recently, I got to think how amazing technology is, especially with our smartphones. As a content curator and millennial specialist, I am really fascinated by how much this small palm machine could do and help simplify our life.
I could easily capture those moments with just a click, polish and edit these photos before publishing and sharing with my friends, take some video clips and incorporate some fun stickers, etc. And it's crazy!
Recently, I just that I can do painting with my phone!
And I was like “What? Is this for real? I can do painting?”
My creative side is so excited. I mean it's an awesome thing to do with smartphones. And with the smartphone Huawei P9, I can possibly do those artsy creations using its cool feature, the light painting mode. Honestly, this feature is something new to me and I’m excited!
Painting with light is such a fun technique that you don’t need a degree or expertise to make it. All you have to get is a camera capable of long exposure, then lights (you can use flashlights or anything), a tripod (especially if you have a trembling hand), and a darker space, and voila = your first light painting!
I have my digital camera and DSLR cam with me, but I’m kind of lazy to tweak my camera for that, so I am using a Huawei P9 phone to do the work. In just an easy tweak (which I find so easy, for a busy girl like me) it helps me to create nice abstract light paintings. Check some of my captures.
A few days ago, I was in Manila along Roxas Boulevard where I had a client meeting. It was a long meeting and yes it went pretty well. So after my meeting, I went past the public park near PICC. And in the middle of slight rain, I realized how beautiful this city was at night time. I honestly haven’t appreciated it during day time, because of the buzzing noise, those busy people going back and forth, its cloudiness which turns out smog.
And that night, it was a shame not to take a photo of that beautiful moment. Using the light painting features of my Huawei P9, I created a much fun and exciting output something that looks like dancing fairies at night, something that gives me fantasy in the middle of the reality of life.
Ohh yes, these little things make us smile and no matter how buzzing our life is, and how many days this rain will last, there is always that little light that shines for us.
Huawei P9 makes my photog-junkie-crafty-blogger-side more fun-tastic than ever.
This makes me unleash my creativeness, and enjoy the gloomy city of lights.
Look how gorgeous the lights are! It’s like a disco in the 90’s ready to shake your ass-off!
This is my favorite – so dreamy!
This looks like my childhood fantasy with cute aliens and heels! Hahaha so funny!
Okay, no matter style you do, and the medium you use – do it and unleash your creativity. Be free to be yourself, in art, there are no perfect strokes, no perfect designs, there is no perfection. Art is an art and they are all unique. I’m not a professional photographer, not a super-geeky chick but I know that most of you will like Huawei P9 just like me.
If you are not a fan of light-painting mode, you can switch back it regular photography mode, and enjoy snapping interesting things, just like this ramen selection I’ve taken recently.
Isn’t it so pretty?!
I’m so freakin glad that Huawei P9 has this soo cool feature that I could incorporate into my blog. It is so user-friendly, I haven’t got problems with its functions plus the battery lasts way longer.
Now I can bring my new Huawei P9 along with me every day without worrying about its weight, unlike my DSLR. Anything, it is so simple yet stylish that it actually looks good on my fingers.
Have you tried the Huawei P9 and its light painting mode function?
Share your thoughts here! I would LOOOVVVEE to know and see your creations!
xoxo, Blair

DeleteI use now a Microsoft Lumia 640XL, but my next phone will be a P9. :) My Lumia makes good pictures (with low noise), but these photos look better.

ReplyDeleteSuch great photographs! I love how they play with light
ReplyDeleteHello Nellwyn,
DeleteYay, Thank you! It was a bit raining during that time, but I have to capture these photos.
Firstly, those pictures are wicked awesome! I love playing with the exposure speed on my DSLR, I'm definitely into trying it on my phone. Also, the copywriter in me is questioning your use of "autistic weather" in your first sentence.
ReplyDeleteHello Beryl,
DeleteYeah, sometimes I use odd words and play it together just to highlight the word or a definition/situation, so that my readers in ALL WALKS OF LIFE / RACE / AND CULTURES would understand.
Hahaha, we Asians like to play with words *wink
Your shots are amazing! Can't believe that you clicked all these cool pictures through smart phone!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ana!
DeleteI've never seen the lighting painting app before and it looks really cool!
ReplyDeleteHello Pellerini,
DeleteYeah I was amazed! You can also do a light painting using DSLR or other phone but you have to tweak/adjust the manual mode.
I haven't tried this phone yet. But the results look promising from your pics.
ReplyDeleteHello Indrani,
DeleteYou can also do it by manually adjusting the ISO of your phone. Ah I'm so thankful that light-painting mode is also activated to Huawei P9, coz I have no patience on manually tweaking it, hahaha
What a great phone. The camera is great quality!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jemma!
DeleteWow, I love the pictures you've taken!!! It's hard to believe they're taken with your phone, great job there!
ReplyDeleteHello Aditi,
