How I turn from a Newbie to a Kick-Ass Blogger in the City

How I turn from a Newbie to a Power Blogger in the City

Hello Girlfriends!

It’s been a busy week for me, like working much longer hours than usual… but surprisingly I still have time to create new blog posts to share! LOL..

It’s called TIME MANAGEMENT.

…..and KNOWING YOUR PRIORITY.

I’m missed last week’s bloggers gala night sponsored by E! Philippines, I was thinking to attend to catch up with my colleagues, and also to meet new friends (and prospective contacts). But then I decided to ditch the party.

Why???!!! That’s a paaarrttteeeyyy!

I know right!

And I’ve heard it was a fabulous night (*wink, is it?)

I ditch it because I have to prioritize things – these days I can’t afford to party because of my work and that also includes my blogging works.

Not to brag but recently, my blogging career is becoming AWESOME and I’ve got a number of new clients demanding my services.

Because of that, I have to skip partying and write my drafts when I arrive home.

See – skipping the party zone isn’t that bad!

My colleagues are all out there with their flocking dresses (gosh I miss that OOTD with them) with their camera phone on the right hand to take that good selfie, while I’m at home writing, writing, and writing.

The next day, they've got hangovers… and I’ve got $$$ in my bank!

Now it’s time for me to sip my favorite champagne (yes still at home!) coz I have other clients waiting for me, hahahaha

Isn’t that an awesome feeling?!

So after finishing my articles and while others waiting for my clients’ responses, I suddenly thought the first time I’ve got invited to cover an event.

Yes, ladies, we’re going back! (just a little bit, hahaha)

Back in 2010, I created this platform (former Legazpi Fab Moda) to share my interest in fashion and savvy shopping from various stores. This was born out of boredom at work, and also to have
something to divert my attention to my way of releasing stress. I wasn’t thinking then that one day my life will be change with my blogging. I only thought blogging was my way of distressing. PERIOD.

Then came the June of 2011, where I’ve got an email invitation from an event organizer, inviting me to cover an event for Philippine Long Distance Corporate (PLDT) the top telecommunication company in the country. I was living in Legazpi City back then.

The first reaction was to ignore the email invitation.

I was like “how on Earth did this guy manage to locate my email address” Ooopps yup I remembered I placed it on my profile. But never had it occurred in my mind that someone would contact me.

Then I checked the email again, and locate all his contact information and office address.

I called that event organizer, and yes he confirms that he sent that email and asking for my confirmation for the event.

OMG!!!

Yup, I got my first event invitation!

The event is sponsored by PLDT and MyDSL as they are promoting its new DSL product then. And they invited celebrities in the car racing industry.

And one of the perks of that invitation is I had a chance to interview them and ride in their racing cars!

What the fuck! That’s sooooo cool!

I was so excited then and literally, my heart is beating so fast, hahaha

Gladly, I tagged my best friend with me, hahaha love you, Sarah!

Please don’t hate me posting these throwback photos of ours…

Oh geez, looking back I was too thin as a stick!

Gosh this is literally embarrassing, LOL

But I remember I was feeling confident that day, adding that my best friend is with me – I felt the courage to attend that event.

This post is originally posted on June 12, 2011, and mow repurposing it coz sometimes shaming myself is kind of cool.

Here are some of my captured photos back then:

We had a chance to join the drifting demo with car racer celebrity Alex Perez and Gio Rodriguez, and it was sooo crazy! My adrenaline is rushing with mixed emotions, and all I could think is I’m having a blast!

Of course, Sarah wouldn’t go home without having a photo with this cool car! Hahahaha!

And here are the other photos mostly candid :D

I then realized I’m more on focusing on what’s happening around than taking my own photos. Glad that I tagged Sarah with me so I could let her asked some photo opt with Alex, hahaha. Yup, we got sneaky!

And here I am! Hahaha really I feel embarrassed now, LOL

*****

Okay, fast forward.......

I’m now living (almost) living my dream! I still don’t have a yellow car (I’m still lusting about it) but yes I’m happy and awesomely enjoying my blogging career.

Now I even sometimes can’t fix my schedule with all these invitations I’m receiving from various event organizers, PR brands, both locally and internationally.

Did I mention I got invited to attend this season’s Paris Fashion Week?

And an invitation for an exclusive press preview for the latest timepieces collection in Singapore?

…. And MOOOORRREEE!

Sometimes it feels overwhelming!

But at the end of the day, I am humbly thankful for all my readers and supporters :D

Without you, this blog and now a website (after I did a rebranding two years ago) will never continue.

You made my dreams come true!

From a newbie blogger (which I thought then I’m just a nobody) now a KICK-ASS BLOGGER!

Yup, I don’t need to get awards for that title – as my clients and my readers are living proof that I deserve that title.

You can actually name and give titles to yourself, and that’s okay!

That’s called branding, and live with it :D

And now an expert on my own rights! LOL

I may have flaws in writing and for delivering stories, but it's okay because I’m continuously learning – thus that includes repurposing my oldie blog posts.

What’s my next dream?

Well, who knows? I’m still searching for that dream… it's not a dream, it’s my GOAL!

How I turn from a Newbie to a Power Blogger in the City

Blogging is a very wide industry – it’s like the Pacific Ocean, and you’re a little Nemo. All you have to do is to find your way to your passion, and make it big and real because it is something that you want to.

In this new age, you can be anyone else… theoretically and literally.

Wherever HAPPINESS might bring you!

xoxo, Blair

  4. I don't understanding what you are talking about "car drifting"! What I remember similar to this car racing is the so-called Grand Prix. Is there a difference between the two?

    1. Hello Divya,

Currently I'm focusing on writing for my blog, and still repurposing the old contents. I used to write in luxury magazines, but the pay is very low compared to writing here.
