The boarding corridor in Changi Terminal 4
How will the highly anticipated new terminal match up to Singapore Changi Airport's reputation of being the world's best airport? Here's the first look!
Efficient systems, state-of-the-art installations and a luxurious spread of dining and retail options — touted as World's Best Airport at the 2017 World Airport Awards, there are many wonderful things to be said about our country's famed Changi Airport. After years of waiting and speculation, the cat's finally out of the bag. Changi Airport's Terminal 4 (T4) is finally set to open its doors by the end of this year. Nine airlines will operate at T4 — four airlines from the Air Asia Group, Cathay Pacific, Cebu Pacific, Korean Air, Spring Airlines, and Vietnam Airlines.

Now the burning question that we're all thinking: Will T4 measure up to or surpass its present top-notch standing? Our verdict? Yes and yes. While the brand-new terminal is only half the size of Changi Airport's Terminal 3, it bodes a great example of why size doesn't always matter.
First up, the new and improved FAST (Fast and Seamless Travel) system is perfect for departing passengers, who will enjoy the flexibility of checking in at their own convenience without having to wait for counters to open (especially in the wee hours of the night). T4's slew of mobile counters include facial recognition software, self-check in and better efficiency. In a nutshell, a redefined traveler experience.

Aesthetically, T4's design is centered around a symmetrical petal design, inspired by our national flower. The contemporary motif appears ubiquitously in various locations — such as within the skylights, installations, and carpets. You'll also be surprised to find a surprising sense of space even with a floor area of only 225,000 sqm, all thanks to the brilliance of high ceilings and glass walls. An ode to our famed nickname, 'garden city', the terminal is also home to 186 large trees, adding a delightful touch of greenery within its urban walls.

That's not all, T4 is also the first terminal to unveil a rich tapestry of Singapore's cultural and heritage scene through the use of smart technology. Be amazed by the Heritage zone, which features a colourful row of shophouses while incorporating a digital theatre stage that screens a six-minute theatre show. Here's where foreign visitors can take away a uniquely Singaporean slice of our rich cultural background while waiting to board. Consider us thoroughly impressed, and now eagerly awaiting its opening for our future voyages.
