Laneige Philippines shutdown
Yesterday, while I am browsing my Facebook newsfeed, I stumbled this huge shocking news in the Kbeauty industry.

This month, AmorePacific had decided to bid farewell to Filipino fans and closing its Laneige Philippines stores.

yes LANEIGE PHILIPPINES IS CLOSING and this is a shocking news!

They posted this announcement above telling the saddest news to all their Filipino fans. In line of this tragic news, Laneige Philippines also announced their 70% OFF closing sale in all their products!

As of this writing, this announcement have gained the reach of over 6,500 likes and reaction and over 8,800 comments!

I also like Laneige products especially their skincare line switch suits well on my skin type. And since I know they have a branch in my area (at SM Aura Premier) I decided to pay them a visit and of course to shop as well. But to my surprised, here’s what I’ve discovered!

YES, EMPTY SHELVES!!! I COULDN’T BELIEVE IT!!

APPARENTLY, SOMEBODY HAD THEIR PANIC BUYING SINCE THIS MORNING!

EVEN THE SAMPLES ARE GONE!

I remember this store had rarely visited by customers, but now this was the most raided store in this posh mall EVER!

And yes, I was disappointed that I haven’t got my score, LOL

I was thinking of getting that anti-aging skincare and sleeping mask. My “for special occasion only credit card” is was ready to swipe, but then nada.

However, what makes more entertaining are the surprising reactions from its fans.

*****

Last year, AmorePacific had announced its plan of revamping its products for Southeast Asia market, to suits Muslim and dark-skinned women. The company is pushing harder to maintain its position in Southeast Asian market and product a line of products that takes into account skin tones, and the region’s humidity, and the need for Muslim women in terms of vanity and beauty.

Muslim community is also a huge untapped market for beauty and skincare products, but many companies are facing the challenge on catering this market. Thus, the company have to make extended research for their products and making all their product line, Halal-certified.

It is reported that AmorePacific had opened a research centre in Singapore last year, and is investing 110 Billion Won in a production unit in Johor, scheduled to open in 2020.

OMG, this is a good news for our Muslim sisters!

Making Laneige halal-certified is another breakthrough and surely could cater the conservative Muslim market.

So, if a production unit will be opened in Johor – would it also means that Laneige products will be more cheaper in Malaysia????!!!

If yes, then that will be AWESOME!

Don’t you think? 

But for the meantime, let’s respect the mourning Laneige Filipino fans.

And for Laneige Philippines,
Thank you for making us Filipinos beautiful. Am sure you’ll be missed.
We will look forward for your return, and I believe this is not a long goodbye.

And on the side note, I won’t be too worried coz I can still get my favorite Laneige products at Althea Korea. Now checking my Althea app and start shopping!

How about you, have you tried any Laneige products? Which Laneige line is your most favorite?

xoxo, Blair

Laneige are trying to give focus on Muslim community market, since they are losing the Chinese market due to the THAAD conflicts.
