Bling Empire: Netflix's Reality Show that follows Crazy Rich Asians in LA

Bling Empire on Netflix
Looking for a new Netflix show to binge-watch? If you’ve already made your way through the popular Korean and Japanese dramas, along with everything from family-friendly movies to inspirational documentaries, it’s time to put this new reality show on your radar.

Released on January 15, Bling Empire is part Crazy Rich Asians and part Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

The reality show centers on the lives of four wealthy Asian-Americans living in Los Angeles. Follow the extravagant shopping spree, affluent lifestyle, and lavish parties of fashion influencers, heiresses, and millionaires.

This might have a few spoilers.

I admit that this kind of reality tv may sound shallow for the norms, but I'm not one of the norms. I love learning stories about rich and famous, from which wealthy families they belong, how they make their money, etc, etc.

One of my guilty pleasures, and for educational and informational purposes only.

Just in time for this year's Chinese New Year, Bling Empire is a perfect guilty pleasure for those Asians who are nosey about family, children, lifestyle, and money.

Don't miss this show as the characters lavishly show-off house parties, their child's latest toy, on-the-spot pregnancy labor, personal shoppers, the spa at home, and other over-the-top craziness that money can buy.

Meet the Cast of Bling Empire (and never mind the extras!)

Jaimie Xie

Jaimie Xie, Bling Empire

Jaime Xie is a former competitive equestrian and on her way to becoming a fashion icon. The daughter of Ken Xie, a Beijing-born tech billionaire (maybe you've heard Fortinet), Jaime's early days was far from fashion, but instead, were surrounded by technology given her father's business. She later discovered a love for fashion, and now, definitely lives the heiress fashionista lifestyle, seen to be sporting labels like Chanel and Dior all over her Instagram feed.

But her transition from horses to haute couture doesn't stop there. The luxury tastemaker has a few business ideas in mind, from building her own show brand to opening up an organic cafe. If all her fashion glitz and bling aren't enough to impress, Xie has a list of impressive friends including Steve Job's daughter, Eve Jobs.

Of all the characters, she is our most favorite. This girl doesn't engage in any kind of drama, but you'll only catch her always looking like attending the fashion week. Love her!

Christine Alexandra Chiu

"Less bitter, more glitter."

She was formerly a cast member on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (but I reckon that she is way fabulous now). A true Beverly Hills native, Chiu's lifestyle and wardrobe exude all the glamour and wealth you could ever imagine.

Married to a plastic surgeon, Dr. Gabriel Chiu for 14 years and counting, the pair opened Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery Inc. together in 2008, the same year when the couple tied the knot. While Dr. Chiu performs the day-to-day surgeries, Chiu acts as the managing director of the clinic and also juggles other duties as a mother of one, a philanthropist, and as a board member of non-profit organizations. Fun fact: The couple owns two pet llamas. Rescues, of course.

Kim Lee

"The Paris Hilton of Asia"

Kim Lee is a Los Angeles native and one of the most sought-after DJs and producers in the business. Upon graduating, she started touring the world, from the US to Asia, with the encouragement of Apl De Ap of Black Eyed Peas and is well on her way to becoming one of the biggest’s DJs in the industry.

Lee has toured with a number of chart-topping musicians from Steve Aoki, Diplo, and Cardi B. Flaunting an exquisite figure and bombshell charisma, it’s no surprise that Lee has appeared in many magazines such as Maxim Indonesia, GQ Italia, and Esquire Singapore.

However, she is our least favorite.

Anna Shay

This Auntie will slap you with good mollah!

This socialite is the daughter of late billionaire Edward Shay and Japanese-American, Ai-San. The company her father founded, Pacific Architects and Engineers (PAE), did some top-secret work for the United Nations and the US government. Shay and her brother sold her father’s company in an all-cash, US$1.2 billion deal. The result is a life of private jets, high-end clothes and jewelry, and mansion parties. Shay is the owner of Sunset Boulevard in Beverly Hills, putting the mansion on the market with a price tag of US$16 million.

Kelly Mi Li

Kelly Mi Li has been in the social media scene since 2012, slowly building her following. Living in Los Angeles, she started producing TV shows and movies and appearing as herself in Bling Empire. The influencer and producer is dating Andrew Gray (who also appears in the reality show), the Red Ranger from Power Rangers Megaforce.

Cherie Chan

A devoted mother and a denim empire heiress, Cherie Chan appear on the show pregnant. Her boyfriend Jessey Lee, who owns a furniture empire is also on the show. Breaking traditional Chinese norms, the couple now raises two children together despite not being married.

Previously signed with Sony Music Japan to become a pop star, Cherie gave up her dreams when her mother disapproved, focusing all her energy on family and starting her organic tequila brand, Religion Tequila with Jessey.

Guy Tang

Guy Tang is Los Angeles’ treasured celebrity hairstylist. A hairstylist turned YouTube star and music artist, Guy has long been in the social media spotlight before Bling Empire even started. With celebrity clients such as Mariah Carey, Guy has earned a reputation for being the best of the best and is a trusted contact on the show.

Kane Lim

Kane Lim is the son of a Singaporean billionaire with an appetite for high-fashion brands. Photos of extravagant clothes, bags, and watches flood his Instagram feed. Despite his wealthy background, Lim isn’t in on his father’s shipping business, instead, he launched his own luxury fashion brand at the age of 17, with a little help from his father. By the time he hit 20, he was already a millionaire.

Besides being one of the four ultra-rich to grace Bling Empire, Lim also claims to be a real estate developer, investor, and philanthropist. His flamboyant style earns him a spot as one of the up-and-coming stylish figures to watch.

Kevin Kreider

Previously featured in Men’s Health, Peloton, Gillette, and more, 33-year-old Kevin Kreider was adopted from Seoul at the age of three to a German-Irish family in Philadelphia. Chiseled abs and cheekbones so sharp that they can cut diamonds, Kreider is passionate about changing how Asian men are perceived in the media, even starring in a documentary called The Ugly Model. Currently working as a fitness model and activist, the seemingly perfect model first got into fitness to build self-esteem and confidence.
