Fairmont Jakarta celebrates the Royal Wedding

Fairmont hotels create rich emotional connections and are often chosen to celebrate memorable and momentous occasions. For guests gathering to toast Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, our hotels offer a remarkable sense of place, a feeling of being part of history and a link to something meaningful, important and enduring – everything a Royal Wedding promises.

Fairmont Jakarta is taking part of the group’s Royal Wedding celebrations. From May 18th to 20th, 2018, Fairmont Jakarta together with One Heart Wedding will commemorate the historic occasion with special events designed to share a royal moment with guests and a live streaming of the royal wedding to celebrate the much-loved couple.

Fairmont Jakarta has been an address of choice to celebrate extravagant weddings in the city. In the commemoration of the Big Day of the couple, the Hotel invites guests to celebrate the much anticipated nuptials through its ROYAL WEDDING Fair that will be held at its Main Lobby from May 18th to 20th, collaborating with a number of exclusive luxury brands such as Sebastian Gunawan, Rolls Royce, Le Novelle Cake, Suryanto Decorations, Axioo, Frank & Co, and many more.

The Royal Wedding Fair will start on Friday, May 18th, 2018 at 12 noon. Couples planning their weddings could find attractive offers from participating brands and get inspired by the highlighted fashion show from Sebastian Gunawan and Wong Hang Tailor. Those who simply spend the weekend with family and friends could also enjoy the Royal Wedding Fair as the Hotel also offers Royal Afternoon Tea at lavishly decorated Peacock Lounge, and breakfasting menu afterwards.

Guests visiting the Hotel during the three-day event will be greeted by the impressive display of the newly launched Rolls Royce Phantom VIII, parked at Fairmont Jakarta Main Lobby driveway. From its debut in 1925, the Rolls-Royce Phantom has been the choice of the world’s most influential and powerful men and women, and as a result, a constant presence at history’s most defining moments.

As this next chapter in the Rolls-Royce story opens, the New Phantom points the way forward for the global luxury industry. It is a creation of great beauty and power, a dominant symbol of wealth and human achievement. It is an icon and an artwork that embraces the personal desires of each of its individual customers.

The eighth generation of the Phantom is a whole new, contemporary design interpretation of Rolls-Royce Phantom DNA. Every new Phantom that has subsequently appeared has successfully retained the title of ‘Best Car in the World’ as a result of Rolls-Royce’s tireless pursuit of perfection, visionary engineering, aesthetic acuity and deep understanding of what the world’s leading luxury item should be. Rolls-Royce keeps its exclusivity by the belief that true luxury lies in true small-volume manufacture of a dedicated ‘Architecture of Luxury’.

Rolls Royce has been used by the Royal Family members for centuries. The first Rolls-Royce Phantom IV was used to carry Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh in 1952. Within the fleet of cars used by Queen Elizabeth II and her family in the United Kingdom are two Rolls-Royce Phantom VIs: the Silver Jubilee Car (presented by the British motor industry to celebrate her 25th anniversary on the throne in 1977, and later served as Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding limousine in 2011), and a more conventional 1986 model.

Entering the hotel, guests will be awed by the magnificent creation of the 5-meter wedding cake, in the shape of a fantasy castle, as the centerpiece of Fairmont Jakarta Main Lobby. The bespoke wedding cake is created by luxury cake designer, Le Novelle Cake, who is known for their intricate and detailed wedding cake designs. Their unique creations have been recognized by international media including the Daily Mail – the United Kingdom’s second-biggest-selling daily newspaper – due to its beautifully crafted cakes.  Their signature style lies in the tasteful combinations of colors, sophisticated design, and delicately handmade figurines and flowers made from icing sugar. Le Novelle only makes cakes by order, where each cake is personalized and tailored to the customer’s special occasion.

The Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be taking place at the St. George’s Chapel in the Windsor Castle. St. George’s Chapel has more than 500 years of history, and has been the site of many royal weddings. The first wedding ceremony dated back to 1863, when King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra wed in the chapel, followed by a number of other royal family members, including the wedding of Harry’s father, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles in 2005. The replica of the St. George’s Chapel could be seen at the Hotel’s lobby, carefully crafted by the wedding decoration maestro, Suryanto Decoration, who is well-known for its extravagant designs and a must-have name for five-star luxury weddings.

On May 19th and 20th, Fairmont Jakarta will present the bridal fashion show, showcasing the latest collections from Sebastian Gunawan, Wong Hang Tailor and Frank & Co.

On the Big Screen
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will always have a place in Toronto’s heart; it’s the city where much of their courtship took place. Now, as she prepares for her real life wedding, Meghan might be thinking back to her acting days and a dream wedding scene with a Fairmont connection. Rachel Zane, her character in the television show Suits, had her heart set on The Plaza, a Fairmont Managed Hotel in New York for a perfect wedding. The scene was filmed at the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto as a stand-in for The Plaza itself. Toronto has played host to the royal couple on several occasions, most notably during the 2017 Invictus Games where they made their first official public appearance together.

Royal Introductions
British Royalty has a long history with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts; a history at the core of Fairmont’s identity, reflecting the high standards of service and luxury in which Fairmont takes pride. In 1939, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother officially opened the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver and toured several properties including the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, Fairmont Banff Springs and the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip followed in their footsteps 66 years later, when they stayed at Jasper’s famed Outlook Cabin in 2005.

Fairmont Château Laurier, Ottawa’s very own fairytale palace, has also played host to many royal figures including the late Princess Diana. Fittingly known as Canada’s Castle in the Rockies, the Fairmont Banff Springs has hosted no less than six royal visits throughout the twentieth century, with an opulent Royal Suite designed for royalty, dignitaries and extra special occasions. This unforgettable suite features a reception foyer, spacious living room, grand piano and upper perimeter library. Located within the castle’s peak, the Royal Suite offers magnificent panoramic views. Fairmont Empress in Victoria, British Columbia has been a popular choice for Queen Elizabeth II, who has visited nearly every decade since being on the throne.

British Traditions
The Savoy, a Fairmont Managed Hotel in London has hosted just about every member of the British Royal Family for dinners, events and celebrations since 1895, when their Royal Highnesses the Prince and Princess of Wales, later King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, received two invitations to two luncheons at The Savoy on the same day. During a wedding reception at The Savoy in 1946, a young Princess Elizabeth was first spotted in public with her future husband, Prince Philip of Greece. Meanwhile, over in Scotland, it was at Fairmont St Andrews where Kate Middleton, now the Duchess of Cambridge, famously caught Prince William’s eye during a 2001 fashion show.

Hollywood and Famous Romances
From the days of the silent screen, Fairmont has been at the heart of great Hollywood romances, hosting Charlie Chaplin and Paulette Goddard in 1936 at the Fairmont Peace Hotel in Shanghai and Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. Marilyn Monroe and her beau, Joe DiMaggio, spent many magical moments together at the Fairmont Banff Springs.
The Plaza, A Fairmont Managed Hotel in New York has been the site of hundreds of high-profile and high society weddings, including the nuptials of Hollywood royalty Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones who were married in a union that has lasted for 18 years.  America’s “royal family”, the Kennedy’s, often made Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston their home away from home, hosting numerous society affairs and political fundraisers there. The hotel also shares a romantic past with Hollywood royalty Elizabeth Taylor, who spent her second honeymoon with Richard Burton at Fairmont Copley Plaza.

With its long history of proud service to royalty of all types and as a place of special occasions and celebrations, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts offers its heartfelt congratulations to the royal couple and invites guests to join the brand in celebrating this regal event.
