In spring, bluebells succeed the grape hyacinths in the meadows, their swathes of mid-blue mingling with clusters of daffodils. Maples burst forth in a spectacle of vibrant colors, and the early hybrid rhododendrons make their presence known with a fanfare of flowers. Japanese tree peonies display their lavish blossoms as lilacs bloom along the shrub walk.
