This 2018 is such a beautiful year for me as I’ve got many opportunities to spend more relaxation time to many places in the Metro. And believe me, every stay is such good memories.
One of the highlights this is my overnight stay at Makati Shangri-La Hotel.
This isn’t the first time I stayed at this hotel, and if I remember correctly this is my third time. Still his hotel is one of the good ones here in the Metro, but my recent stay made me feel quite different than before. And I’m telling you why. BOOK NOW HERE
Makati Shangri-La Salon, seems nothings have changed since my first visit in 2013.
It is undeniable that Makati Shangri-La is one of the best in the Metro, their services are top-notched and they have a very welcoming ambiance, the moment you stepped out your car to the lobby. I still have that same feeling since 2013 – the people might have changed but the same smile I saw and it was wonderful.
So last month out of my whim, I booked an overnight stay at Makati Shangri-La. I chose their humble room (I think it was a standard deluxe room) enough to cleared-out my thoughts from the recent craziness at work.
It is still a nice room, but seems nothings have changed back then which I find it not so satisfying. Maybe my feelings have changed because I’ve been to many hotels in the Metro and outside the country which have more wonderful than this, however back then Makati Shangri-La made me jaw-dropped.
My intimate space for the night.
I still like their bed and duvet. It was very comfortable and he enough for my size, and always smells fresh as I expected. Their thick and clean duvet gives me that comforting feeling, and how I wish my Amore would have joined me underneath (*wink).
They still have this humble sofa set inside their room, which is very nice to have a little relaxation because heading to my bed.
They still have that sweet touch – giving their guests welcome fruits for their stay (and it is replenished every morning, when you request for a room make-up).
My room is very spacious but already old. Compared to many hotels nowadays, my room will be considered at rooms from new 3-star hotels. However, I still like the humble ambiance, that quiet and relaxing sounds it gives to me (means I can’t hear my neighbors banging the wall, etc.).
Inside my closet they provided me two robes lots of hangers for tops, pants, and dresses (different type of hangers for different clothes), an iron set. On top of the closet are extra pillows for my satisfaction.
I also have this security vault for my valuable belongings, some laundry bags, bedroom sleepers (btw those are really nice, I ended up bringing them home with me).
Here’s my bar with complimentary water and welcome cookies!
Also have this water heater, my fully-stocked fridge, complimentary coffee and tea, and the best part – a complimentary bottle of red wine! I felt so pampered already!
Makati Shangri-La staffs are so sweet to leave fresh cookies for their guests.
The Bathroom
Since I’m the type of hotel resident who doesn’t roam around the hotel amenities, the most important part of my room (aside from my bed) is this bathroom.
My bathroom at Makati Shangri-La is very spacious!
They have this welcoming since with complete toiletries! The toilet seat is separate from the shower room (hot and cold), and they have a separate tub for me!
Back in 2013, their toiletries are from L’Occitane which I truly love! I was expecting the same but felt disappointment to see their unknown brand customized for Shangri-la Hotels. It smells like grass and bamboo which is not my kind of scent, I ended up buying L’Occitane at the mall just to satisfy my stay.
Oh my favorite space in the bathroom! But now I find it quite smaller compared to other hotels I’ve visited, but still a good place to unwind and enjoying the glass of Bordeaux they gave me.
Though they don’t have TV inside the bathroom, they have installed good sound system which is also nice.
This space next to the closet is a small sitting area in front of this decent whole body mirror.
I decided to spend my dinner outside the hotel, and experience the other restaurants nearby.
The next morning, of course I didn’t let myself missed their hearty breakfast at The Circle which is included in my room reservation.
The Foods at The Circles
Ahh isn’t it so hearty! This time I forgot that I’m watching my diet and just enjoy every bites because I’m on my vacation. The hotel’s restaurant called The Circle have lots of variety of foods that you can enjoy. This photo was my first set (hahaha I forget to take a photo of the other sets). Nothings have changed to their way of services and foods – still the same when I first visited back in 2013.
Oh these muffins are so delightful! Good to pair with brewed coffee.
The Swimming Pool
And I also didn’t miss that chance to enjoy their swimming pool! It was a good sunny day, almost a perfect day for my stay and to get back my tan complexion. My Amore told me that I looked so pale, and I needed some sunlight, so here I am!
Before I checked out the following day, they gave me this small parting gift! Isn’t they are so sweet?!
Oh my I’m a certified tai tai!
Verdict:
Makati Shangri-La still that humble hotel in the Makati, and for the past two years they have maintained it’s standing to Forbes Travel (2017 and 2018) as one of those recommended hotels in the Philippines. Although for my own opinion, this hotel needs improvement in order to keep its standard. The staffs’ uniforms must be changed – honestly they look so old-fashioned and ugly, not suitable for the modern day hotel.
However, their services are still good, staffs are courteous and very much helpful, and their foods are worth every bite.
Overall, it is a hotel I recommend you to stay when you are here in Makati. My hotel rating would be 4.2 stars.

DeleteI have always loved Shangri La Hotels and this one in Makati does not dissapoint at all, the venue and food looks great.
ReplyDeletewww.yeahlifestyle.com
I know right?! And it isn't overly crowded which I also love.
DeleteLove the idea of welcome fruits. When I lived in Tokyo & worked throughout Asia, I always found where to buy fruit as I found each new hotel. It's important & challenging to eat healthy when traveling.
ReplyDeleteExactly! And they serve good quality of fruits, always fresh!
DeleteIt looks beautiful, I can't believe that view from your window! I know the toiletry disappointment as well, one time I stayed at a place and all the toiletries smelled like orange cream and the next time it was just generic soap scent that didn't even smell like much of anything. But at least you had a chance to find what you liked?
ReplyDeleteI agree. I hope they bring back the L'Occitane toiletries!
DeleteThis place looks so cozy and relaxing! Any hotel that gives fruit and cookies is a win in my book!
ReplyDeleteI know! Ohh there is free red wine too!
DeleteNot many hotels in Manila are generous like Makati Shangri-La.

DeleteThis looks like such a lovely place to stay. The place looks modern and comfortable and the pool area inviting!
ReplyDeleteThat is true! Quite peaceful as well.
DeleteI think that their service was impeccable and I love that they even gave you a parting gift to remember your stay which is adorable. I also like that they had a swimming pool as well because who doesn't love a hotel that has its own swimming pool?
ReplyDeleteI agree. And their pool is quite deeper, which I love! I can swim deeply!
DeleteI could lay by that pool all day! The hotel room looked pretty spacious and it sounds like the service was good.
ReplyDeleteYeah it is amazing, and it was windy during that day :)

ReplyDeleteHello Yukti,
DeleteNope I didn't because I was too busy to enjoy myself, lol. Oh maybe when they find this review, they can consider.
