What Makes #PeperoDay More Appealing to Everyone

Hello, my ever-loving friends!

Hope you have a wonderful week, though I could imagine how some of you are still under a lot of stress from work. But don’t worry because I’m here to share something a little fun, and I hope that this will bring you a huge joy.

Nope, I’m not giving you any giveaways, or freebies, or even bribe you just to make you read this post, lol.

Okay back to our stress reliever topic.

A few days ago, I was browsing my Facebook feed when this ad catches my attention – it’s actually an invited ad for a public event at Globe Iconic Store at Bonifacio Global City, to celebrate the #PeperoDay.

Honestly, I think I’m one of the very few people who haven’t know “what Pepero is”.

I was thinking it is some kind of anime cartoon character or a kind of mammal. But then when I searched it online, I just learned the REAL PEPERO IS!


PEPERO is actually a brand of cookie stick manufactured by Lotte Confectionery in South Korea in 1983.

(OMG so that means as of this year Pepero is already 33-years old!)

So yup it is just a cookie stick.




I know you are rolling your eyes, and some of are even raising your brows while thinking:

“How come this cookie stick has its own special day, and everyone is getting crazy?????!”

Here’s the thing…..

We Asians especially those located in the Eastern part are very traditional and very sentimental about things, which creates and build good relationships, companionships, and camaraderie.

Every year of November 11, South Koreans celebrate the #PeperoDay, which is like Valentine's Day. The current purpose of these fun celebrations is to exchange peperos sticks or boxes (whatever you like) to your friends and family, and your loved ones.

Actually, the origin of this cute celebration started from a story set some time ago in 1983. In the story, it says that there are two female friends / best friends in the middle school and they’re both wishing to be taller and thin someday (maybe they are having that discussion while eating these cookie sticks!) lol.

The story (or legend whatever) is kind of funny and silly, yes.


But if you will understand it with a pure heart, and with no doubts – I think there’s something good about it.

It’s like this pepero become an instrument to create that bond between these two female friends, holding on to their dreams and wishes, and happily thinking that one day, those dreams will come true.

I personally find it so sweet and inspiring.

When was the last time you are alone and want to have at peace with your own thoughts while nibbles something?

I sometimes do that, and it’s hard to explain but this simple gesture makes me calm and happy.




While I was roaming around this afternoon and observing these long lines of excited people, patiently waiting for their turns, I realized that Pepero is indeed doing its job to give smiles and happiness to everyone.

Yes, these are just cookie sticks with different flavors just like other cookie sticks in the market, but having this celebration, and showing the importance of giving and sharing makes my heart truly beats with happiness.

I could see couples sharing their cookie sticks and giggling about it because hey it's really cute!

I saw some kids happily embracing their boxes of Pepero, because “Momma these boxes are sooo cute and fun and I want to collect it!”

Well, I agree with this little monster, LOL.




So I’ve also bought 4 boxes, one of each flavor because I find Pepero so appealing… very attractive that I felt like I’m a little girl again, so happy just seeing those very attractive boxes. I spent my today's lunch money on these boxes of sweets (hopefully only contain low carbohydrates), LOL.

I would literally collect these – just like that little girl wants, lol.

This morning, they only have four (4) flavors to choose from; The Original, Peanut, Almond, and White Cookie.

And of course, nothing will make this event more endearing with FREE CONCERT, right? Yeah, that part I did enjoyed even I just have to stay and snoop for a few minutes, as I have actually an appointment right next to this building, oops!

Some got to finished the TASKS and won some little surprises (another sweet!)

But to tell you frankly, I have no patience to take some little tasks, just to aim for some surprises, especially if I know that I don’t need it, so why bother, right?

But I admire how patient they are…. like I’ve said I have another appointment this afternoon, and I was only dropping-by LOL

Okay no further explanation is needed for my photo – I just love the number 1 and the colors complement my tan complexion, my hot body, and my personality, LOL

I love it!

Well, overall I did enjoy having a quick stop at this Pepero camp to enjoy #PeperoDay.

Will I give out or share my Pepero?

Definitely nope. It’s ALL MINE! LOL
