Just days prior, I've shared to you my little secret behavior of watching beauty pageants and this year's Miss Universe is a must, or should I say a must important event for me not only because I like the industry, but because it is hosted by my country Philippines, and I feel uber proud of it.
Just last night, I have an opportunity to attend the VIP Viewing Party with fellow fanatics at Nectar Bar, and it was exciting!
But I admit that it would be more exciting if my bestfriend Mrs. Fong is with me (Miss you babe!)
But weeks before the competition have started, I could help but noticed the unique beauty of Miss Thailand Chalita Suansane. Thanks for my love on social media, I've got the chance to snoop with Chalita's beauty (and yes even followed her personal IG account for this matter!) and I can't deny she got the huge chance to get into Top Five (5).
And even last night during her swimsuit and long gown presentation, she's owning the stage!
But what makes me soo amazed is about her presentation of her national costume.
Her very supportive designer and fellow Thai people, called it Jewel of Thailand and I think this dress deserve a big bang!
A dress that is very exquisite and designed by Hirankrit Paipibulkul along with over hundred of collaborators of craftsmen and artists in Thailand, the dress that adorned with traditional intricate Thai embroidery, plus 300,000 Swarovski crystals. This dress is indeed a jewel and not an ordinary national costume.
The Jewel of Thailand set the Thai record for costume with the highest nominal value and is a creation by the collaboration of more than a hundred artisans with various Haute Couture craftsmanship. This elegant gown is delicately adorned with more than 300,000 dazzling crystals.
The exquisite costume is a meticulous interweave of modern techniques and traditional crafts, combined with Thai contemporary ornaments and material combination such as Swarovski crystals with Thai traditional embroidery. The designer Hirankrit Paipibulkul was inspired by the reflective light from "Siwalai dress" , a modernized and westernized type of Thai royal dress in which Queen Sirikit worn in 1960. All intricate lines and patterns were influenced by Thai architecture of the spectacular Grand Palace and then redesigned in the Art Deco style.
The glittering light you behold today not only portrays the prosperity and richness of Thailand's arts and culture, but also represents Her majesty Queen Sirikit's royal grace for originating a Thai traditional dress to be the Thai national costume and bestowing on all Thai women. Moreover, it's the embodiment of love and solidarity of all Thais who unite and of those poured their hearts into the making of this year's national costume.
The Jewel of Thailand is a pure representation of Thailand's pride and is especially designed for Chalita Suansane, who is a bright shining jewel that inspires women all around the world.
So tell me why I should turn a blind eye for this dress?
While it looks beautiful and luxurious, I think it is too over the top with gold. Having said that, it could possibly bag Best Costume. At least, it is way pleasing to the eye than Miss Malaysia's costume.
ReplyDeleteHello Emily,
DeleteThough for some her national costume is over the top, wearing gold in Thailand is part of their culture. When you visit Thailand, it is normal to see gold everywhere - some gold in shrines, dresses, etc.
Her national costume looks stunning and I love the bead-work that has gone into it too. Must have taken a lot of effort to complete the entire outfit as well.
