And yes including trying out new restaurants nearby, and that includes dining at Oudon Japanese Restaurant with my good friend Cha Sy.
Me trolling my good friend Cha Sy – you can check her awesome travel blog at Travel On Shoestring
We dined at this place weeks ago after we attended the POND’s Institute White Party. It was a spontaneous decision which I allowed her to do so, as long as we dine and talk properly, not crowded and accepts my credit card (because during that night, I didn’t have money on my pocket, and been avoiding carrying money for safety reason).
So right next to the BGC Arts Center were the party was held, is the place we called The Forum that houses multi-cultural restaurants – from Filipino restaurants, American, Persian, Korean, Chinese and Japanese you’ve got.
Located at the second floor on the east wing, Oudon Japanese Restaurant is one of the fantastic place I’ve dine with. It was my first time here and am truly impressed. It was Wednesday night and I’m actually expecting that it will be a crowded place, and surprisingly it wasn’t (Cha picked the right place!).
The moment we’ve stepped inside the restaurant, I knew it was a good place. Yes it wasn’t crowded, have a very cool and homey atmosphere. And am truly impressed with their vast collection of sake displayed on their walls.
Okay honestly, I got so excited scrutinizing these sake collection checking when and where it was made, and am truly impressed. And I almost ordered sake for us two, and I remembered that Cha is not drinking. And it was rude to drink alone especially if you have with someone who doesn’t drink.
Well, am just an occasional drinker and mostly I partake myself with wines. I know sake is a huge kicker, I tried it many times and its mind blowing, and whenever there is a special sake around – it would be a shame not to try it.
But not this time. I will come back next time just for these sake, hahaha
So aside from their sake collection and the good ambiance, am also impressed with their wide choices of food available. Check out these list I took for your satisfaction :D
Of course they have their special Oudon of different kinds. And also tempuras, sushi, donmono, some tepanyaki, and guess what they are surprisingly affordable. If I just have a huge appetite, I would love to try them all!
Isn’t these list amazing and already mouth-watery? LOL
The place is not huge in them of overall layout, but spacious enough to cater not too huge customers. And yes, I couldn’t help but admire how clean and tidy it is! You can bring your business associates here and have a late dinner meeting without someone disturbing you. Well, except if your party needs to consume liquor then they also have a bigger place for you!
Though we’ve ate some finger foods from the party, still not enough for my tummy. But not necessary I have to eat more because its already dinner time. So I decided to get this Sashimi Teishoku (Php420 or $8.40) that comes with a small bowl of Japanese rice and hot soup.
And my friend also got hers but I forgot what did she ordered, hahaha. It looks like one of those Japanese rice bowl with grilled beef and eggs. Yeah we Asian love to eat rice, haha.
Okay here's what she ordered and it seems this is good for two person, LOL
And me! Enjoying my sashimi.
Ahh it will be more fun if I take even just a one small bottle of those sake, but then it will be a rude gesture. I know there will be next time, and this restaurant is just a block away from my building. No worries indeed.
Another thing that I’ve noticed is, Oudon Japanese Restaurant have a bigger servings compared to other restaurants I’ve been. Even my friend have noticed it too! She even have difficulty to finished her food coz she said it seems it’s for good person, hahaha (but actually hers is for single person only).
We’ve enjoyed our dining experience and we’ve talked a lot! We Swear you must visit this restaurant coz it is reeeeaaaalllyyy goody!
And I know am coming back to experience more of Oudon Japanese Restaurant… maybe next time I will try their signature oudon soup!
xoxo, Blair
