How to Turn your Disney Ooshies into Designer Christmas Decor

Disney ooshies
Have you heard about another fad item circulating around Australia?!

With this worldwide pandemic, finding beauty and happiness from small things are necessarily including a small excitement and magic that you will get after shopping for your weekend groceries.

Thanks to Woolworth and Disney, many Australians are getting excited to collect the 36-limited edition Woolworths Disney Ooshies collaborations. For every $30.00 worth of purchase, shoppers will receive 1 ooshie, and additional ooshies for every product they bought from participating brands.

News is circulating around, and to the point that thousands of Australians felt disappointed that Woolies run out of ooshies!

What are ooshies?

Disney ooshies

Don’t worry, you are not the only one who felt intrigued by this rubber fad of joy. Apparently, every ooshies release makes thousands of shoppers go nuts about it. Well, including myself because who wouldn't?!

Ooshies are no longer just a piece of cute rubber that you stock on your pens and pencils. Ooshies are super collectible, and some rare pieces hold a whooping hundred of dollars. Type ‘limited-edition ooshies on eBay and you’ll see how crazy the price is.

Though I admit that I almost adapted this Aussie ooshie-lifestyle (thanks again Woolworths near me!), I try not to go crazy with them. However, I find another clever way to keep this little shopping souvenir, to avoid clutter in our home.

It is now October, and the Christmas season is fast approaching.

So I had this clever idea to turn my collected ooshies into a designer Christmas décor!
Using the crafting tools and supplies I already have in my stash, I use my own magic and created something more exciting.

Disney ooshies

Here are the materials I used:

Ribbons
Thread and needles
A pair of scissors
Plier
Gold beads
Some jewelry connector (pardon me but I don’t know the exact names for those)
String of yarn
Decorative bells
Of course, lots of ooshies!

This tutorial is actually easy; however, the only challenge is how to insert that jewelry connector. Ooshie is made of rubber, so I use an upholstery-type of needle (the big one) to make a hole inside which will make it easier to insert that wire connector. Note that you must do it carefully and avoid getting stubbed by the needle.

Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

Next, I made a ribbon and handsewn it with gold beads to make it look a little fancy. Stitching them makes it more secure than using a glue stick.

Then I attached the ribbon to the ooshie and added a small bell. Do not forget to attach a string to the ribbon so you can hang them on your Christmas tree.

And voila!

Now I have a designer-looking, limited-edition Disney + Woolworths Christmas décor ooshies!
You can use any type of ribbon and beads you have!

This Hulk ooshie looks dapper!

I also use my previous limited-edition Lion King ooshies! Isn’t it lovely?!
The Red and gold combination screams Merry Christmas!

These could be a great handmade gift for your friends.

    1. I agree! We definitely feel the recession at this moment and also to the coming year, that's why upcycling and recycling your toys and other Christmas stuffs you already have is a smart idea.
After all, the most important meaning of Christmas is with your family together.
