Fuji-Q Highland: Japan’s World Famous Safest Theme Park, you shouldn’t miss

Fuji-Q Highland: Japan’s World Famous Safest Theme Park
Time flies so fast and still, I couldn’t my heart-pumping feeling of excitement and joy during our first visit to Fuji-Q Highland.

It was in 2019 when we drove our rental car from Tokyo to Yamanashi Prefecture in the hopes to enjoy the beauty of Mount Fuji. But our luck wasn’t in our sleeves during those days as the weather is gloomy for a couple of days. However, we were delighted and felt curious about those amazing rides and heard screaming voices of excitement from many park-goers.

To make our stay more comfortable, we stayed at the local Airbnb, just 10mins away from Fuji Q Highland. The apartment looks amazing, and we had an amazing stay. The kids slept in a futon which is a new experience for the Aussies kids.

Japan’s most famous theme park, it’s situated at the foot of Mount Fuji in Yamanashi prefecture and offers amazing views of the iconic peak from its tallest rides.

The park has risen to worldwide fame among roller coaster enthusiasts over the years due to several record-breaking rides being opened. When the Fujiyama coaster opened in 1996 it was the world’s tallest rollercoaster, and Dodonpa opened in 2001 as the world’s fastest rollercoaster. They have since been overtaken by new records but still, hold impressive stead in the world rankings. Takabisha opened in 2011 with a heart-stopping 121-degree freefall which still holds the record for the steepest coaster in the world.

The most famous attraction in the park, is the FUJIYAMA, a monumental 259-foot tall steel roller coaster that provides the most thrilling ride in Japan. When the park opened for business in 1996, it was the tallest in the world and also boasted the world's largest drop at 230 feet. It is the best way to enjoy the best view of Mount Fuji, minutes before you are about to dive.

Through the years, there is no recorded accidents and casualties, which makes Fuji Q Highland, one of the safest attractions in Japan, and in the world!

Fuji-Q Highland: Japan’s World Famous Safest Theme Park

As of this April 2021, Fuji Q Highland offers FREE admission. Back in 2019, we had to pay quite a steep admission cost (especially we are foreign tourists). Check their website https://www.fujiq.jp/ for changes in admission.

Introducing FUJIYAMA Tower

Introducing FUJIYAMA Tower

Fuji-Q Highland opened an observations deck where you can take photos of Mt. Fuji and you posing in front of it to your heart's content, in addition to two fun attractions. First, there will be a thrilling tube slide called "FUJIYAMA Slider" starting from the observation deck and spiraling down the central frame of the tower all the way to the bottom. Second, there will be a skywalk activity on the level below the deck, where you'll be attached to a harness and walk with unimpeded views of Mt. Fuji.

Fuji-Q is now a dog-friendly attraction!

Small and medium-sized dogs with a height of 50 cm or less can enter the park together if they are attached to a lead, and it is possible to ride with their dog at four Attractions such as a Ferris Wheel, Teacups, Water Ace, and Merry-Go-Round.

Fuji-Q’s dog admission fee, charging 900 yen (US$8), the same price as a child’s ticket, for canine admission. There is a discount if you’re bringing multiple animals, though, as additional dog tickets are just 450 yen each. Animals also need tickets for the individual rides, which are priced for them at 500 yen for the Ferris wheel and 400 yen for the remaining three attractions that are part of the Fuji-Q Wanland festivities (human guests have the option of an all-access pass or paying for individual attractions). Owners will also be required to carry a water bottle and baggies to clean up any markings or other digestive messes their pooches make during their time at the park.

Fuji-Q is now a No Smoking Zone.

As of 1st April 2020, Fuji-Q Highland is now a no smoking on site.
