How to Get your Digital Vaccine Certificate

How to Get your Digital Vaccine Certificate
At this time, many of us around the world, particularly many Australians received their COVID vaccination, which is a remarkable achievement for all of us, to keep our community safe and protected.

Meanwhile, if you are living here in Australia and got your double dose vaccination, you can access your electronic vaccine certificate online.

UPDATE as of October 11, 2021 - You can now add your Vaccine Passport to the Service Victoria app.

What is a digital vaccine certificate?
For those who have had both doses of an approved vaccine – currently, Pfizer or AstraZeneca – the COVID-19 digital vaccine certificate will be automatically generated and available through Medicare account.

The proof of vaccination can be accessed and downloaded on a smartphone app or found online.

The certificate features the person's name, date of birth, and the dates of their vaccination injections. The validity of the certificate is protected with a holographic coat of arms watermark and unique document number.

How do I get the vaccination certificate?
The COVID-19 digital certificate is automatically generated after the second dose of an approved vaccine.

The best way to access the digital certificate is through the Express Plus Medicare smartphone app.

Medicare app available on Google Play

Log on to your Medicare online on your laptop/desktop and link Medicare to your MyGov account. You can access your digital certificate through your immunization history button.

Once you've done linking your Medicare to your MyGov account, download the app available from the App Store and Google Play, and you can conveniently access your digital vaccine certificate from your smartphone.

For much convenient access, without logging on to your Medicare account, you can save your digital vaccine certificate on your phone by adding it to your Google Pay (if you are an android user).

The Australian government is now in a conversation about launching its own vaccine passport. Currently, China, Israel, and the EU launched their own vaccine passport.

A “vaccine passport” or “e-vaccination certification of compliance for border crossing regulations” could be required to enable seamless border crossing.

VIC State residents in more than a dozen regional areas will soon get an early glimpse into what life looks like after lockdowns.

From October 11, residents in 20 regional municipalities with high vaccination rates -- including the Bass Coast, Warrnambool, Greater Bendigo, and East Gippsland -- will take part in a vaccine passport trial that mimics the state's reopening.

It's expected that hospitality, hairdressing, beauty services, and even events such as race meetings could fall under the trial, which will look at how businesses handle the new rules.

  5. We have something like this here, too. But I can't get my digital certificate yet because my second dose of Astra has been delayed because I caught COVID 2 weeks before my schedule, and I'm still waiting for a reschedule.

    1. It should be for everybody. Here in Victoria, they will soon pilot removing the restriction, and requiring people to present their digital vaccine certificate, or else, you won't get any services both private and public.

    1. Having a digital copy is convenient. If its not available, maybe you can take a picture of your vaccination card, and show that as proof if needed.
