Fleurs de Villes Rosé at Emporium Melbourne

Fleurs de Villes Rosé at Emporium Melbourne
Fleurs de Villes invites you to raise a bouquet to launch ROSÉ, our glorious 2021 fresh floral celebration in support of breast cancer research.

Karen Marshall and Tina Barkley, our founders, are honored to announce that Fleurs de Villes ROSÉ, which supports breast cancer research in five countries and more than a dozen cities.

Breast cancer touches so many lives – it knows no age, gender, or race. According to the World Cancer Research Fund International (WCRFI), it’s the most common cancer in women, and the second most common cancer overall. Globally breast cancer represents one in four of all cancers in women. Nearly two million women around the globe were diagnosed with new breast cancer cases in 2018. Fleurs de Villes ROSÉ was launched to help fund research through sponsorship and fundraising in each city of the 2021 show schedule. The theme was inspired by many of Fleuristes (participating florists) who have shown their support in the past for the cause by dedicating their mannequins at previous shows to loved ones on their breast cancer treatment journey.

Fleurs de Villes is also an official partner globally of BCRF, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, founded by Evelyn H. Lauder in 1993. Daughter-in-law of the legendary Estee Lauder, Evelyn dedicated the non-profit foundation to ending breast cancer by advancing the world’s most promising research. Every major breakthrough in breast cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship has included the work of BCRF-funded investigators. The largest private funder of breast cancer research worldwide, BCRF awarded $40 million in annual grants to 275 scientists from top universities and medical institutions around the globe in 2020-2021.

Fleurs de Villes ROSÉ will continue this vitally important mission, through sponsorship promotion and fundraising, in each city from our worldwide launch in March at Bal Harbour Shops in Bal Harbour Florida, to additional North American cities including New York, Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Seattle, and Costa Mesa. Shows in the United Kingdom, South Africa, and Australia will follow. Fleurs de Villes ROSÉ will work with breast cancer research organizations – the Breast Cancer Society of Canada is one example – for a truly inclusive approach, bringing increased visibility and awareness to this cause that’s so close to our hearts.

Why ROSÉ? When we think pink, global breast cancer research instantly comes to mind. Pink symbolizes calm and tenderness but with a playful and life-affirming spirit. And it’s one of the most glorious shades in the flower world. Fleurs de Villes ROSÉ will highlight this feminine shade in a variety of fresh floral installations such as “flower-bombed” automobiles, swings, doorways, and a dozen or more of our beloved mannequins, plus a fundraising Flower Market, content “jardin”, and variety of delightful drinks and treats with a floral twist.

Every ROSÉ-inspired pink-blooming mannequin and every installation will be different and unique to each city. And every celebration will follow our proven track record of producing a delightful show in full compliance with COVID restrictions.

Fleurs de Villes ROSÉ, the first globally themed celebration, takes root in the fertile foundation of the past four years. Created more than 35 one-of-a-kinds fresh flower shows viewed by millions of people - 16 major cities in three countries with more than 350 of the world’s favorite florists.

TITLE: National Breast Cancer Foundation Mannequin
BOTANICALS FEATURED: Agapanthus, Lamb’s Ear, Lunaria, and Statice
CREATED BY: pemberlyofmalmsbury.com.au

This mannequin illustrates the power of Floral Therapy; the inner peace, solace, joy, and healing that her garden brings as she nurtures it back to life. The wild, dried, textural elements of the dress and garden represent the battle with cancer and adversity to be faced. The watering can, with its trickle of hope nourishing the garden, symbolizes new life, growth, and beauty stemming in the harshest conditions.

TITLE:  Moulin Rouge! The Musical Mannequin
BOTANICALS FEATURED: Alstromeria, Amaranthus, Hypericum Berry, and Strawflower
CREATED BY: IG: flowersalley_au and justpeachyeventflorals

This mannequin is inspired by the Can-Can dancers of Moulin Rouge! The Musical. The Can-Can is intense and fast-paced, pushing dancers to the highest level of skill and requiring endurance, resilience, and strength. The artist likens the mindset of a Can-Can dancer to that of women everywhere, especially survivors and those battling breast cancer, who are giving it their all, every day.

TITLE:  Enchanted Goddess Mannequin
BOTANICALS FEATURED: Amaranthus, Bougainvillea, Bromeliads, and Hypericum
CREATED BY: thriveflowers.com.au

This mannequin is a collaboration between Thrive Flowers and Firefly Flowers. She embodies a woman’s strength and fragility, her nurturing qualities, and her connection with nature. The pink bougainvillea petals used for the bodice are a statement of support for breast cancer research. The artist has used mostly biodegradable, sustainable, and natural materials to create this beautiful piece.

Fleurs de Villes Rosé at Emporium Melbourne
TITLE:  Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria Mannequin
BOTANICALS FEATURED: Amaranthus, Celosia, Hypericum, and Protea
CREATED BY: Mattea Davies of dittodittoflorals.com.au

This Mother-nature-like mannequin is inspired by the theme of sustainability, and it was created predominantly using the green waste from the Royal Botanic Gardens. These trimmings, clippings, and fallings would normally be mulched, but have been given a new life here, celebrating the beauty which can be found in that which is often discarded. Though she herself appears to be slowly dying, her heart can be seen to be breaking with grief, (or perhaps bursting with hope), for the future of the verdant garden in which she stands.

Fleurs de Villes Rosé at Emporium Melbourne

This mannequin represents a positive outlook, taking joy in every day despite the ever-present challenges of life. Acknowledging that life is too short, the artists call on the audience to live life in happy hues.

Fleurs de Villes Rosé at Emporium Melbourne
TITLE:  Melbourne City Rooftop Honey Mannequin
BOTANICALS FEATURED: Billy Buttons and Bunnytails
CREATED BY: Petals and Sage

This mannequin takes the form of a young girl who feels isolated from others in her everyday life but finds comfort in nature. Stepping out of societal expectations for just a moment to find empowerment among the bees. The artist uses this idea to parallel the journey of a cancer diagnosis – at times isolating often requiring moments of pause and reflection, which many find amongst nature.
