Hello, 2023!

Another exciting year to explore, enjoy, and be grateful for another opportunity to learn new knowledge, continuously be more creative, and strengthen your passion.

And in my case, 2023 is another exciting year to continue my passion for upcycling clothes, and share its stories with you, with the hopes that you will do your own share of saving your clothes away from the landfill.

PS – I’m currently away overseas for a month break, exploring some of the places in the Philippines!
For now, I would like to share with you one of my recent upcycled outfits that I finished before 2023 hits.

When I found this set in one of the discounted racks at our local Vinnies shop, I couldn’t help myself not to give it a second look, inspect its quality, and paid $4. This beauty will never sit lonely in that depressing rack. After all, this set is proudly ‘Made in Australia.’

I am not a textile expert; however, I can tell that this set is made of good quality material, in addition, it doesn’t wrinkle easily which is more favorable to me. I am too lazy to do the pressing!

As much as possible, I always chose the smart way of upcycling. I prefer to save as much of its original design and stitches and make a little adjustment to suit my style.

Hence, I decided to crop the button-down shirt while keeping its boxy look. I also adjust the size of the pants and use elastics for a more practical reason. Then I adjust the length of the pants.

All the excess textiles are used to create ruffles that I have sewn on to accentuate the look of the new pants.

The whole look is perfect for this crouching heat of summer!
Even my bejeweled boots are also handmade by myself.

I crafted these bejeweled boots back in July 2022. I found secondhand boots from Vintage and Vibes op shop for $25 and just for fun, I decided to add some bling to them after watching Dolce and Gabbana’s Alta Moda Fashion Shows on Youtube, and bingeing for Bling Dynasty from Netflix.

After all, I have some extra rhinestone beads that I sourced from the Spotlight store.

Without prior research, I painstakingly sewn these rhinestones to the boots and roughly took me days of needle poking before I felt satisfied with the result. It turned out to be a glamorous pair I ever had!

I should wear it more often!

This bling is giving me a luxurious rockstar feeling, and more motivation to create upcycled fashion pieces and save more textiles from landfill.
