The secret to getting the gradient lip look that’s so on-point with the Korean beauty bunch these days? Smooth, line-free lips – which you’re almost guaranteed to get with Laneige’s game-changing hero of a product, the new Lip Sleeping Mask.
WHY LIP MASKS ARE YOUR NEW NIGHT-TIME ESSENTIAL
Okay, so big, bright puckers are poised to make a colorful comeback.
But here’s the thing. Most ladies I know are leery of training a spotlight on technical “flaws” such as feathering; indeed, this “bleeding” of color into mouth creases must surely be the foremost excuse cited for forgoing lippie.
To make doubly sure your lippie stays put, pruning your puckers of peeling skin is of the essence.
Enter Laneige’s luscious new Lip Sleeping Mask ($27, from May 2015), the sexy sister sidekick to the K-Beauty brand’s equally exceptional Water Sleeping Mask ($42). (FWIW, the Lip Sleeping Mask is quite possibly the only offering on the market right now. Neat, huh.)
WHY THIS MASK IS THE BEST IN MY BEAUTY BOOKS
I’ve had the fab fortune of test-driving this product nightly for a month or so now, and I must say I’m officially obsessed.
What you’re meant to do is to slap on a generous glob before bedtime as an intensive night treatment, but I’ve taken to lugging along my tub just about everywhere.
Stuffed with a concentrated cocktail of berry extracts and hydrating agents, this potent poultice is said to, per press copy, “gently melt and erase dry, flaky skin on the lips overnight”.
What’s it like in practice? Well, if you’re into thickly-textured products, you’ll love this seriously protective salve. Sure, it’s somewhat sticky – but that’s a plus in my beauty books, because I find I don't have to reapply as often as I would with a more fluid formulation.
For those who don't like the smothering sensation of heavily slicked smackers, I suggest using it as an ad-hoc lip rejuvenator and wiping it off after a couple of minutes.
As for me, the richer the better: I love how incredibly plump my puckers have become, with noticeably shallower creases around my mouth. Better than Botox?
Another trick I discovered through sheer serendipity: This lip mask is amazing for alleviating painful "hangnails", so feel free to massage any excess product into your cuticles as a nifty nail nourisher.
Final verdict? Read my lips: This is definitely #DieDieMustBuy!
