When Manila Got So Lucky, and Penshoppe Pre-Holiday Collection

Penshoppe Pre-Holiday Collection 2016, Lucky Blue Smith for Penshoppe

Two weeks ago was an exciting week for me – closes new deals, finished some un-published posts, edited more photos (SOS for assistant, lol), and attended a fashion soiree. One of these is Penshoppe launching its Pre-Holiday Collection for its loving fans, with an opening walk from Lucky Blue Smith.

Wait.. what??? Lucky Blue Smith?!

Yeah, I know…

When I received my invitation and read saw his name on it, I’ve suddenly turned into a blank face and kept on thinking, "where the f*ck did I heard that name", and if I’ve stumbled it somewhere.

Honestly, never heard… I have a blank face.

As my press kit states, this boy is an international model and has been the face and cover of most glossy magazines, alongside the likes of Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner. He’s been one of the international brand ambassadors of Penshoppe and since last February 2016, he’s been parading the brand in various magazines and campaigns. Congratulations Penshoppe!

How come I never knew Lucky Blue Smith! I’m not sure if that’s his real name (well I’m not interested to know either) but when I saw his photos, I suddenly realized he looks like a surfer boy in California or Florida beach, running off wearing those floral beach shorts still with sands all over him.

Turns out he is indeed from California!

I don’t know, maybe I’m getting mature and didn’t recognize him. And these kids do…

Okay, I think I need to get back and also browse on some glossy magazine and only to give at least a minute or two for boy (male) models. For the sake of this job.

“Lucky Blue Smith was launched as a Penshoppe ambassador back in February when he became the face of the brand’s Spring/Summer campaign. The 18-year old, who hails from Los Angeles, got scouted to become a model at the young age of 10. By 12, he had already signed up with an international modeling agency. Last year, the six-foot-two-inch model—with his piercing blue eyes and platinum hair—skyrocketed to international fame, especially online, with people dubbing him as the male equivalent of Cara Delevingne.”

But I would never apologize for not recognizing this boy. I mean, he dresses well (thank God) but not my thing. I don’t find him attractive nor gives me fire.

For any consolation, I wouldn’t deny the fact that he can carry those fits and his boyish charm that these ladies are dying for (excluding me, of course). It was lovely to know that Penshoppe has him for this global campaign, like meeting East and West fashion and connecting like-minded people.

So I was invited to the show last July 29th at Conrad Manila Hotel (I’ll tell more about this hotel soon *wink) for the launch of Penshoppe’s Pre Holiday Collection, and I’ll tell you – I have mixed emotions with the collection. The Collection’s theme “Cool Kids District” featuring a myriad of cool and undeniably stylish pieces that come in both dynamic and subdued colors, the collection for this campaign intends to highlight the vibrant and edgy fashion sense of “cool kids” from different parts of the world’s most fashionable metropolises.

Welcome to the comeback of hoody-varsity jackets, cropped tops, everything denim, bonnets hats, and sneakers – outfits that are very comfy to strut around the city like a local.

Simply, the collection shows a carefree attitude, free-spirited views, with a sense of adventure.

If I would be traveling to city-places as humid as ours (Philippines) I would like to LOOOOOVVEE to bring two or three pairs of these outfits. So comfy and relax, that I could easily move and wouldn’t mind having a faster walk, and getting it slow carrying my shopping bags. These are perfect!

Ohh, look at that – perfect outfits for our male companions on the go. Relax but still comfortable and looks gorgeous (okay including these mannequins per se). Why is Capri and a well-fit jacket look gorgeous on men???? Such a mystery.

But I never find it attractive to guys who wear socks longer than mine. I find it too lousy, too lazy, and totally never cool. Ohhh veeeeeeeeeeeeeerrryyyyy touristy. It gives me headaches, and when it's white – it makes me puke on the street. These remind me of lousy middle-aged American tourists here in Asia, dragging his young, tiny Asian playtoy along the High Street.

It’s a no-no NO…

I’m just glad I’m sitting in the front row and have a chance to view properly the collection (including its brand ambassador) without dealing with screaming fans at the back. Congratulations Penshoppe!

You did well!

Meanwhile, before I end this post, here’s my outfit during that night.

Good thing I didn’t wear my denim jacket – I would end up like part of denim minions, LOL!

(Popping Orange Forever21 top that I’ve turned into crop-top (originally it’s a bodycon dress), stretch pants – a gift from Penshoppe, my white shoes ($2.00) and trench coat (another $2.00) both I’ve got from the vintage store recently)

I’ve also worn just minimal makeup, and just prepped my brows and got a pop of red for my lips, coz my top is already popping much, literally.

    1. Thanks CJ!

Actually I have nothing to wear that day, wearing full black is not an option coz I might ended up looking like a PR Assistant. So I cut one of my old mini dress, made it into cropped top, and viola!
