From Zara to Oscar de la Renta to Chopard, brands are doubling down on statement earrings in exaggerated sizes and mismatched colors to tap a new generation of consumers.
Thank you for 80’s fashion pioneering the sense of loud ear accruements. Back then costume jewelry was excessively piled on with a full face of make-up and bouffant hair, but in this new era of fashion, statement earrings are accented to oversized shirts and distressed denim, or your favorite dress matching with a “no makeup” make-up look.
Earrings can create a sense of personality and magic for someone who dresses simply. It can create a huge difference on your selfie game or during your life streaming session with your fans (watch my live-streaming here), even the rest of your outfits are just borrowed from your Mom’s closet.
Today’s designs are bolder, bigger, brighter, flashier, and more dramatic than ever and to some extend way below the shoulder. IT could also be mismatched with colors, sizes, stones, and fringed/tassel accents!
Wearing statement earrings is not like coloring your hair where you need commitments to it. It is just a bit of fun and I think most of you will love the transformative effect.
Fashion is all about having fun and it doesn’t mean breaking your bank for just a pair of statement earrings.
Am here for another DIY session and it’s time for you to sit down and take some notes, or nope just screenshot this post.
All you need are some balls of colored thread for the tassel. I’ve used my old stocks of Monaco thread (I’m using these for my crocheting projects). You can buy these at any craft store, any you can use any brand. If these are not available, you may opt to use the DMC thread.
Next, I have these old pairs of earrings that I haven’t used for a while, and I decided to glam it up for a more fantastic look!
Choose any color of thread that you desired, then roll it like this above to create a tassel. You can decide the length, can be short or long. You may check my video clip here on how to make a tassel.
So here I’ve created 6 tassels in 3 colors, all in eye-candy colors! Next is to connect all these tassels together unto the earrings, to make something like this…
And Viola!
No need to spend hundreds of bucks just for statement earrings. Unleash your creativity and there are no limits.
You can wear it on any occasion, when you hit the beach, for your afternoon tea with the ladies, etc.
I’ve flaunted it during the recent shopping party at UNAROSA. Then I paired it with my Dolce & Gabbana-inspired dress, and my “no makeup” make-up look.

I used to love chunky earrings such as the ones you're wearing. I stopped wearing them when I had my son. There were times when he'd tug at my chandelier earrings and out of fear of having my ears ripped, I switched to the regular mini hoop earrings. :)
