But I chose to celebrate it with having a home HIV Test…. And yes with champagne!

Yup I did it!

And it was one of the most liberating thing I’ve done in my life, much more on my birthday :D
I know that this blog post is quite controversial for many, however it shouldn’t be.
The goal of this post is to help spread awareness of taking a test, and make ourselves practice SAFETINESS.
Without ifs and buts. Without worries or non-sense judgements.
And also to ease the unnecessary stress of overly thinking situations…
I’m sharing this to promote another way to show huge love to yourself, for ourselves entirely.
Although I’ve been doing my regular HIV test with my trusted physician, it just happen that she isn’t around when I want to do it. And since I’m a person who doesn’t give trust to new physician that easily, without going my own background check with them (and many paper works, yeah!), she suggested that I should try this HIV test kit.
And so I did.
A week before my birthday last December 2017, I’ve been busy with my laptop and ordered my home HIV test kit, via hivtestkit.ph
Thank God for e-commerce, you can do everything in the comfort of your couch. And I mean it - EVERYTHING.
Since I would like to test also the product, I decided to get one (1) Fujibio HIV test kit.
I paid HIV Test Kit Philippines Php875 for my kit and that includes FREE SHIPPING. The delivery takes a week, which is fine with me.
I find it awesome!
After that, I sit back and relax and actually forgot I ordered, hahaha
Then few days after I placed my order, my packaged arrived inside an LBC delivery bag with marked as supplements, so discreet I really appreciate it. And here’s how they packed it inside.
They treat their product so fragile, that they even wrapped it with bubble wrap! OMG I’m excited!
The box looks simple and all sealed. I was expecting to be more stylish but, whatever I want it!
And here’s what's inside, yey :D
1. Fujibio HIV test kit box
2. Fujibio HIV test kit manual
3. Fujibio HIV test cassette
4. A checklist of the content inside the box
5. Buffer (a fluid that is inside a sealed tube container)
6. A fricker
7. An extra sharp needle (just in case the fricker won’t work)
8. Alcohol pad
When I opened the sealed packet, I realized it looks like a pregnancy test kit!
LOL I know this could be fun.
So before I start my test, I made sure I have a cleaned hands.
See what I mean?! LOL
Am honestly not used to hurting myself with needles, but then I just imagined this could be like the Disney’s Sleeping Beauty, well only I wouldn’t be sleeping (I wish!).
Using the little device, I got my fresh blood and placed it onto the cassette.
I’ve only placed 2 to 3 drops of my blood, enough for the text. I thought my blood will immediately flow onto that panel, but it didn’t.
This is why we need to add that buffer fluid.
It’s not that difficult, right?
And this is the most exciting part, and I know for some the most scarier part is....
WAITING....
But I wait very patiently, so not after few minutes, my blood is now moving and I could see vividly the result...
Yay! My blood gives that one line in a control (C) area which means, I AM NEGATIVE!
Yay I felt that FIREWORKS INSIDE ME, I WANT TO PARTY!!!!!!
I’m been so OC even in my sex life, and whenever I do it I always value my safety first. Abstinence isn’t going to work for me, and I know myself.
Seriously, after I’ve got my result I happily popped a bottle of champagne!
LOL... this kit is totally cool!
This home HIV test kit is perfect for those who are so OC being discreet, and prefers to do by yourself at the privacy of your home. I know that some are not comfortable with others interviewing you before the test (which I find it unnecessary). Like, if you know that you are active with your sex life, then you now that you need that test, and having that interview makes things all complicated.
Interviews and consultation are being done for a valid of reasons, whoever if you can do it straight then shoot it – no ifs and buts.
I’ve read some FREE HIV Test available in the metro, but I prefer to do it in my home and spend a few bucks for my comfort and convenience. And I don’t like filling-up lots of forms and a volunteer assigned asking me questions, which I only allowed to answer to my family physician (bonded with NDA).
Anyway, spending Php875 (roughly $17.50) is not that huge amount for my health, don’t you think?
I suggest you have your test as well. It isn’t scary and nothing to worry about. If the result you got is positive, then don’t worry! It isn’t the end of the world, it still can be treated as long as you detect it earlier.
Nothing to worry, ladies and gents.
PS. Next time I’ve buy those 3 to 4 sets coz it seems I’m gonna save a lot (wink).
Disclaimer: This is #NotSponsored post, but I recommend this to you since I tried it first-hand :D
For further inquiries, don’t hesitate to email me!
Go and be beautiful and healthy! Because safety is SEXY :D
Belated Happy Birthday to me, baby!!!
How do you celebrate your birthday? Have you recently tested?
xoxo, Blair
First of all, I want to greet you a belated happy birthday! Now, that's very convenient having the HIV test kit at home.
ReplyDeleteThank you Erika! And its affordable actually.
DeleteI never knew you could do these tests at home. Good to know.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the innovation by Japan. We can now do it in convenience of our home.
DeleteFirst of all I have never celebrated my birthday I think the last one I remember is when I was 10 or 12 but I never really mind because I don't take such things too seriously. It's great to test oneself I remember when people would get scared to do it and even doubt themselves but nowadays it's great to do it and be aware because you never know. I got tested four years ago.
ReplyDeleteI celebrate my birthday in many ways, mostly in odd ways - but no partying coz I find it too normal :D
Deletegetting an HIV test nowadays becoming more convenient!
I think it's awesome that one can test for HIV right in the privacy of home. Pricking oneself seems kinda scary for me. Not sure if I can do that! No guts. HAHA
ReplyDeleteHahaha it was fun having this test, and yeah the pricking is quite an excitement.
DeleteIt's wonderful we can do these sorts of tests in the comfort of our homes and order them off the internet. Way to go for getting yourself tested! And thank you for sharing the experience with us. I had never really been sure how this worked until now.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lindsey :D
DeleteIt was so interesting because doing the test is like having a pregnancy test, LOL. It is so convenient, secured as well. And the instructions are easy to follow.
I had no idea that at home HIV tests existed! Glad that you're focusing on your health - it's so important to get regularly screened.
ReplyDeleteI agree! Now I won't be worried whenever my doctor is not available because I can get this online.
DeleteThank you for sharing this and discussing how it impacted you! I am an advocate for women's health and self care and this is SOOOO important in all of our communities these days...
ReplyDeleteI agree. There shouldn't be an stigma because taking care of our health is normal. I guess the stigma only flares up because of wrong understanding and lack of open-mindedness.
DeleteI had no idea that they offered at home HIV testing. Very interesting.
ReplyDeleteYeah, and it is very cool!
DeleteOMG! I need to prick the needle to my finger. You so brave ,Blair! This kit indeed convenient and inexpensive.
ReplyDeleteHahaha.
DeleteWhen I was doing it, I suddenly remember Sleeping beauty!!
This is so convenient and needed right now. Many people are afraid to get tested due to the stigma. This could really help with privacy issues.
ReplyDeleteI agree.
DeleteThere is also a free HIV Testing here in Manila, however it is not convenient and applicable for someone like me who are very particular with confidentiality (see, even my doctor have signed an NDA). This kit is convenient, inexpensive, plus safe you can see the result in few minutes.
Wow I never knew they made at home test for this. Health is so important so this could be a great tool for those who are concerned. It's awesome that you can do this in privacy because some might never get tested because they are too embarrassed to go to the doctor. Super cool!
ReplyDeleteI agree. And especially nowadays that information in order to be secured needs legal paper works. I'm glad I found this kit!
DeleteThis is amazing, first of all I'm so happy for you and second, the fact that its now a test that can be done at home is so great, when i was younger you had to go to the hospital wait in a huge line wait 3 month for results, this actually makes it so much easier, amazing
ReplyDeleteI guess the inconvenience also affects why most are not having this test, plus the confidentiality and stigma.
DeleteBut using this kit, you can do it at your home or anywhere!
I have not done any HIV test at home before. I usually get my blood test from the pathlab or clinic.
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome too Linda, wherever you feel comfortable :D
DeleteIm afraid to do it myself. I let my nurse friend do it then. Good post and share the awareness. Thanks
ReplyDeleteWherever you feel comfortable Bella :)
DeleteGood thing that we have now many options to take the test, no more reason not to have it.
I think it's fantastic that this sort of test exists - especially in this day and age. Good on you for taking responsibility and having yourself checked!
ReplyDeleteThank you Elizabeth! There shouldn't be a stigma. Am sharing this to help many that there are ways to get a reliable test.
DeleteWow, I admire your bravery!
ReplyDeleteHahaha thanks Jacqueline. It is a necessity. Investing to health is a must!
DeleteI haven't really tried a kit like this. It looks very interesting. Yes, you are right. Investing on health is a nice thing to do.
ReplyDeleteThanks Emmanuel!
DeleteI love that you can do these types of test at home. I think once more people find out that you can do these at home, more people will and hopefully it will make everyone more aware of what they may be carrying.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I think one huge factor is accessibility and also shyness to visit a hospital and clinic for the test.
DeleteNow that home hiv test kit is available, home that many would encourage to do so. Anyway, it is affordable!
Naamazed ako.
ReplyDeleteParang PT lng ahh..
So True!!!
DeleteCongrats on getting your HIV test done and for showing that there should be no shame at all in speaking about sexual health. After all the more we raise awareness the more we can help others!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ana!
DeleteI also think that the more we openly talk about it, the better chances that the stigma will vanish and make the test as normal just like having an annual physical exam.
That's great it was negative! It's so important that we are sensible about our sexual health and take control of our bodies and choices this way. I had HIV testing during my pregnancies routinely and it was always reassuring to see it negative!
ReplyDeleteSelf-assessment is important.
DeleteThis is such an inspiring and powerful post. Womens health is so important in today's world, including sexulal health. Thank you for being so open and honest about your experience.
ReplyDeleteThank you Danielle for reading my story, My aim is to help everyone to get additional information where to get this home hiv test kit.
DeleteOh wow they have home tests for that now? A very happy birthday to you. best gift ever!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ching!
DeleteWell, actually I was quite confused at first if I am taking a hiv test or a pregnancy test, LOL
It maybe unnerving for some people to go to the doctors office, great that you can do it at home. This is super convenient! A great way to see if you have it quickly, so you can get help.
ReplyDeleteI agree! And if its happens that someone is positive, then he/she can immediately look for treatment / solution for that. Save from complicated inquiries, etc.
DeleteGood on you for raising awareness and speaking out about this pretty taboo subject. Also I had no idea they did an at home test for this? Makes it so much easier for people who need the test!
ReplyDeleteI agree! Very convenient and its not expensive :)
DeleteInteresting. I haven't heard of this before. This seems very convenient for people who don't have time to go to the doctor.
ReplyDeleteExactly!
DeleteAnd if someone is dating someone and wants to put things into the next level, they can have a simultaneous test.. I think that's cool!
This is amazing Blair! I never knew that you can self test for HIV. SO brave to do this yearly - great self care. Thank you for spreading awareness and encouraging healthy habits. Blessings, Evelyn, PathofPResence.com
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome Evelyn!
DeleteCongratulations on receiving some very positive news. I can see this being really good for couples, too. Get yourself checked BEFORE you commence to lighting the fireworks. Good job and thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYeah I know right! That's an awesome idea before lighting the fireworks, lol
DeleteI applaud you for doing this. It raises awareness and allows people who may be too scared or bashful to still be tested in the privacy of their home. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteNothing is safer than HOME!
DeleteI think it's fantastic that this sort of test exists. This is such an inspiring and powerful post. Womens health is so important in today's world, including sexulal health.
ReplyDeleteExactly Diana.
DeleteThanks for visiting!
Gosh I didn't know that this was a thing you could do but that's fantastic that you can do something like this at home.
ReplyDeleteAmi xxx
Thanks for visiting Ami!
DeleteGood for you Blair! raising awareness is very important, we should all be tested!
ReplyDeleteYeah, now I treat it like my annual physical examination. No worries :D
DeleteWhat an interesting way to spend your birthday, but I'm glad you're taking precautions and really taking care of yourself. I've never done an at home test like this, should really look into it.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome :) Thanks for visiting Ania!
DeleteHappy belated birthday! I never knew you could order these tests online. So great to know, thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome Sarah!
DeleteThese as home test kits are all quite new to me (and quite expensive by the looks of things?!). In the UK we can readily get tests for diseases like HIV just by going to our doctors. I am glad that you got tested though, because it's all about raising awareness x
ReplyDeleteYour shoes is more expensive than this HIV test kit :)
DeleteI love that this is available. Health is Wealth!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely agree!
DeleteI never knew this type of test can be done at home. Anyways, congrats on receiving good news on your birthday!
ReplyDeleteThank you Kristyn!

DeleteOh thanks for sharing this. Never knew that such a test could be available online and can be done at home! Cool!
ReplyDeleteI really didn't know you could do an at-home test. Thanks so much for sharing! And happy belated birthday :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so cool! And I hope that many would do the test using this kit, or visiting their doctor.
DeleteI wasn't aware that you could get home HIV tests. I would definitely encourage people to get regularly tested for HIV and other communicable diseases.
ReplyDeleteThere is always a solution for everything, if we act early and ASAP.
DeleteI always got tested before changing partners (not that many times so, lol) but I prefer to go the old fashioned way in a lab.
ReplyDeleteThat's cool of you :)
DeleteI have never taken an HIV test in general. It's good to know you can order one to take at home. Also congrats on being negative!
ReplyDeleteThank you dear!
DeleteOnly have a test when you actually needing it.
Great that you made the decision to do this. Also nice that people can do this at home.
ReplyDeleteHahaha thank you Sheri! Convenience and privacy are awesome!

DeleteIt's cool that there is an easy way to test HIV like this. Belated Happy Birthday to you!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ruth!
DeleteGood to test it for early detection. I think all guys and girls should do the same too.
ReplyDeleteI agree. If we treat this test just like an annual physical exam, then there should be no stigma, right?
DeleteI didn't even know you could do that! wow the things that are available to us these days. Thank you for bringing awareness to this, i think it a really important subject as i had someone close to me who was HIV positive and getting it detected and treated early is key.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sheleen, I hope that your friend is alright and having the treatment needs, There is always a solution on everything. Never lose hope!
DeleteThank you for sharing this. I do this test on patients all the time and always recommend they buy a at home test for partners.
ReplyDeleteYeah, both should do the test. This is a fun experience, its like having a pregnancy test, :D
DeleteI didn't know this was a thing. It is a great option for those who don't want to go to the lab and get it done. Great that its out there.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lisa! Yeah this is the most convenient and private option.
DeleteHappy belated brithday! Wow this is good news at least you can do it at home. Very helpful to people who's shy to go to hospital and have a test. Yes, it's important to have a regular check up. Keep sharing great products on your blog!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ayesha!
DeleteNowadays, privacy is luxury so this is well recommend

http://www.thechicvibe.com
Thank you babe! Yeah sometimes the main reason of not get tested is because of the stigma and worrying of what others might be thinking. Unlike this kit, they can order it online and do the test on their privacy.
DeleteI've been using this product too for quite some time. Pero di pala sya FDA approved nor registered.
ReplyDeletehttps://ww2.fda.gov.ph/index.php/advisories-2/medical-devices-advisories-pertaining-to-all-regulated-medical-devices/504037-fda-advisory-no-2018-149
Hello there!
DeleteThanks for this update. Hopefully they can fix their FDA registration na. This works well pa naman :)
Blair how many time have you use this kit? Is it safe?
ReplyDeleteI've use this 3x na. I even tried the HIV test in St Luke's BGC and so far, my doctor haven't found anything.. and am still alive :D
DeleteHi blair is this legit po???my friend ordered it din? is it true that after 20mins the result is invalid?
ReplyDeleteresults of the test doesn't expire. This HIV test home kit works fine, but it is still advisable to visit your nearest clinic for a more high-level kind of test for guarantee assurance, such as the one in St. Luke's Hospital. It only costs Php2,400++ and the result comes after 8-hours.
DeleteI have tried this kit once, tested negative though I am still thinking of getting the standard test, i just wanted to know if this kit is accurate?
ReplyDeleteI suggest that you visit a clinic and have an HIV laboratory test. If the result turns good then it also means that your kit gave you an accurate result.
DeleteHindi ba definitive ang result ng fujibio? I mean can it be wrong? Even after window period?
DeleteHI I did the test using fujibio kit..3months and 6months after last exposure with suspicios sex..September 2018,,test done January 2019 and again March 2019 and both results was CONTROL C ..but im still worried coz i read some feedback saying ONLINE HIV TEST KITS are not FDA approved and read article that someone used Fujibio he tested negative and he knew he is positive coz the 1st test he did in a clinic was positive,,means Fujibio showed wrong result in his case..doubtful...
ReplyDeleteHi Altheas,
DeleteI agree that Fujibio home kit might not give you 100% correct result. That's why I always recommend that when in doubt, always go straight to the hospital or clinic for the test. :D
