How to Make a Lucky Money Tree for Chinese New Year
Few more sleeps and it’s Chinese New Year!

It became part of my lifestyle to believe and follow those auspicious signs and ways which truly
works to me. And for this tutorial, I’m going to share you how to make your own lucky money tree…

Without being an actual tree (or plant) for that matter.

This tutorial will also teach you how to be creative and savvy financially!

Okay let’s do it!

Materials you’ll needed:

• Your own Christmas tree, from previous holiday

• Red envelopes, or hong bao

• Strings

• Pairs of scissors

• Some trinkets and ornaments

• Fairy lights

Step 1 – Get your holiday Christmas tree and tidy it up. In this tutorial, I’m reusing my old Christmas tree

That I’ve got from Daiso store. Pretty cool to use it, considering I don’t need to but a new one. If you don’t have your Christmas tree, you can get your plant that is strong enough to be decorated.

Step 2 – Organize your trinkets and money tree decors! I’m using these red envelopes ( or angpaos) and some of my Christmas balls, and fairy lights. You can use any glittery ornaments that makes you happy and gives you a positive energy and mood.

That’s the point of making a lucky money tree. A tree that will give us delight, positive mood and good energy.

Step 3 – Put some cash inside your red envelopes! Then attach some string on each envelopes.

Never hang a red envelope without cash inside. I prefer insert a bigger amount because I’m aiming for a bigger and brighter energy for the next coming days!

Can you hang any other kind of envelopes?

NO.

You use red envelopes to bring good luck. Red is a very powerful and luckiest color in Chinese culture.

Step 4 – Don’t forget to put some strings also with your other trinkets. I love these shiny brightly colored balls because they makes me happy. Hang it to your lucky money tree.

Isn’t it adorable and savvy?!

The best location to display your lucky money tree is in the money area of your home or office. Just don’t place it inside your bathroom, no matter how chic and stylish it is.

This kind of lucky money tree is perfect for those who have not blessed to have that green-thumb (just like me!). It’s practical, savvy and also very stylish IMHO.

You don’t need to buy those actual money tree in the market, which literally cost you thousands of bucks. Instead, place your thousands of bucks in your red envelopes and hang it on your own tree, like this.
