Review: Taal Vista Hotel in Tagaytay City

Summer is actually just started here in Manila and the temperature is getting crazy, hotter compared to the past summers many years ago. If this is part of the global warmer, then sure it is. It’s getting hard to sleep at night sans air-conditioning, and taking the long weekend getaway seems like part of my week’s itinerary.

We decided to visit the uphill for the weekend and booked our stay at Taal Vista Hotel in Tagaytay City. It is one of the pioneering hotels in the city, and I thought of staying with them with be such a charm. Actually, I didn’t choose it, Mon Amour has this habit of checking the good reviews from his Tripadvisor app.

Although that Saturday morning was a cloudy day (I thought there will be a heavy rain shower but didn’t happen), it was still a good decision to stay in this place.

After our sumptuous breakfast at home, we grabbed our weekend bag and head to Pasay City bus terminal for an almost 2-hours ride to Tagaytay City – the cheapest means to travel, as it isn’t practical to bring his car (I hate stress, and I am foreseeing that we will have one so we decide to use the public transportation). Turns out a good drive apparently, and didn’t experience any issues (except for a quite smaller seat, and can’t stretch our legs).

The property, which is overlooking the charming beauty of the Taal Lake and the active Taal Volcano is one of the selling points of this hotel. One of the favorite destinations for huge parties, weddings, and debuts, including huge conventions for corporate events and seminars, Taal Vista Hotel seems one of the places that always on the list of many event planners.

We arrived at around 1:00PM and after we checked-in, we decided to have our little rest. That bus seats are really not comfortable but hey, we traveled smoothly after all. Then we decided to have a little tour around the property before we head out for our late lunch.

GREEN LAWN

It is hard not to noticed and appreciate the wide green lawns they have, a perfect spot for a weekend relaxation afar from the busy, and chaotic streets of the Metro. A place where I can comfortably sit in this lawn, while watching the beauty in front of us, and sniffing that fresh and cooler air of Tagaytay.

He was so sweet to have this surprise weekend for me.

SWIMMING POOL

Though they have this very inviting swimming pool right next to our room, we didn’t bother using it because it was too chilling for me.

THE LOBBY

THE SALOON

I also like this area, just after the lobby where you can sit back and relax while enjoying your coffee or tea. This Saloon is very charming perfect for your little gathering with my friends, although mon amour doesn’t care less about this pretty area, hahaha but I do!

OUR BEDROOM

Review: Taal Vista Hotel in Tagaytay City

We booked this quaint and charismatic wooden tiled bedroom for the weekend, and I can say that it was a good place (but not luxurious). We don’t have a good window view, rather we enjoy the barren space that I assumed to be a good place for farming if they do some improvement with its soil.

Our bed is very comfortable that we tried our best not to stay in that bed for the whole weekend, lol.

What I don’t like in our room is when the receptionist assigned us to this room with an adjacent door to the next room. I really hate adjacent doors even I travel with a group or with my family, not unless I have a child that needs to monitor then it’s okay if they stayed in the next room. I don’t find it too comforting (I’ve got plenty of experienced staying with this kind of room and it’s annoying and feels unsafe). Sometimes, I don’t know how the hotel booking people handles this situation.

THE BATHROOM

Enough for that annoying adjacent door, and I tried to not feel bothered with its existence. After all, mon amour is with me to keep an eye on it, lol.

Luckily, our room has a bath that I enjoyed for that whole stay since I can’t fully enjoy dipping in a chilling pool available. Our room has complete bathroom amenities like a huge vanity mirror, complete complimentary toiletries, clean towels but no robes, bedroom slippers, and a hair dryer. I was so happy soaking myself in this bath while mon amour is enjoying watching his favorite TV-series (he can’t join in coz he is quite bigger to fit in… oopps!).

THE BAR

The hotel also has this pretty bar. That yellow light is truly attractive.

THE VERANDA RESTAURANT

Review: Taal Vista Hotel in Tagaytay City
Our accommodation comes with a free buffet breakfast that we devoured at The Veranda, an in-house restaurant with a view overlooking the Taal Lake.

The restaurant serves continental and Filipino foods that we enjoyed so much. There’s also a musician that you can hire to perform next to your table while you dine-in.

It is hard to resist these Filipino foods especially that local Tagaytay cuisine because we can’t easily those in the Metro. Plus, those locally made rice cakes are so delicious, mon amour couldn’t help devouring them! A very comforting dining experience, and I’m so happy that he enjoyed it too.

Tagaytay is the go-to destination by many city dwellers, and the most accessible to travel to.

Either you travel by public transportation or bringing your rental cars, this place is one of the recommended destinations for both locals and international guests.

Just bring your jacket coz the temperature here is quite low, and it was very nice. But get even chilling when it rains. We also visited the nearest People’s Park which I will share in my next blog.
