Are you a kind of traveler who always visits museums and galleries?
In trying to inculcate a museum tourism culture, National Discovery Museum Institute (Museum Siam) has launched the Thailand Museum Pass since December 1, offering entry to 64 museums nationwide.
Thirty-two museums – including Museum Siam near the Grand Palace – are sited in Bangkok and nearby provinces, such as Tooney Toy Museum, Siam Serpentarium, Banglamphu Museum and Nitasrattanakosin.
Bangkok, December 6, 2019 – Museum Siam is officially introducing Thailand Museum Pass, the first of its kind in Thailand that rides on the concept of “Never Stop Traveling. Never Stop Exploring.” The pass will bring museum goers to a whole new learning and inspiring experience with unlimited access to 64 museums across the country. The pass is targeted at everyone from children, teenagers, adults, families to the elderlies and foreign tourists. Recent statistics show museum visits have not only become a rising trend among locals, but also international visitors. The Thailand Museum Pass is scheduled to be on sale in December this year and will continue until December 1, 2020 at only 299 Thai baht. It is valid for up to one year from your first museum visit. The pass can be purchased right at 38 participating museums nationwide or at Museum Siam’s website. Alternatively, online purchase can be made on the Museum Thailand app. For more information, contact 02-225-2777 ext. 529 or www.facebook.com/thailandmuseumpass. #Thebigchilli #lifestylemagazine #expatmagazineinthailand #jcpr #museumsiam #museumsiampass
According to Rames Promyen, director-general of Museum Siam, millennials are changing their views towards museums, and are showing interest in those that were once overlooked or outdated.
Museum Siam for instance has had visitor numbers jump from about 800 during the weekends to 1,600, while weekday entry has doubled to a thousand. In 2018, the museum received just 12,000 foreign guests, but 2019 saw 35,586 foreign guests from January to October alone.
This is also partially due to July’s opening of Bangkok’s MRT Blue Line, with Sanam Chai station leading right to the museum doors.
To further this museum culture, Museum Siam has introduced the Thailand Museum Pass since December 1, offering entry to 63 other participating museums.
Valid for one year from date of first use, the pass costs US$9.87 (299 Baht).
More museums are set to join the list, as well as more discounts from tourism-related operators.
