#OpShopDiaries: Salvos Elsternwick

#OpShopDiaries: Salvos Elsternwick
Hello, fellow op-shoppers and sustainable fashion warriors!

DISCLAIMER: This haul was done #preCovid19

I’m happy to share with you the first #OpShoppingDiaries which features the items I’ve sourced from many op-shops I’ve visited. In lieu of supporting the movement to reduce the fashion footprints and give more value to our personal items, I would love to share with you how I styled each item without spending my hard-earned money. Thrift shopping or op-shopping (or whatever you guys call it) is fun and exciting, plus it makes us more creative to discover our personal style.

I’ve been op-shopping for a while even back in the Philippines (we call it ukay-ukay, but the difference is, these shops are not for charity) and been more active since I moved here in Australia.
I’ve mentioned from my previous blog, how much happiness I’ve got from this new hobby!

The Autumn season has arrived here in Australia, so I decided to get some warmer items. While we were in Melbourne for a weekend (this is pre-Covid-19) we visited Salvos Store in Elsternwick.

This op shop is one of my favorites because it has good items. Located near Brighton Beach were depicted as the residence of most high-income earners, I assumed that this op shop received lots of quality items from rich residents.

I wasn’t prepared to get a huge haul but manage to control myself!

Cream-colored Trench Coat

#OpShopDiaries: Salvos Elsternwick
I love the trench coat in any colors. Whenever there is a good deal for this item, I’ll grab it.
This one still had a label on it from a Chinese brand, and the quality is impressive. You can wear it as a dress or just a coat.

#OpShopDiaries: Salvos Elsternwick
I like the length of its sleeve which makes it look classy. The dress length is also perfect!
Did you notice my boots? Yes, that came from op-shop too! It’s made of good quality Australian leather, perfect for this season. Now I just need to look for good knee-length socks or leggings for this.

Op-Shop deal – Trench coat AUD$8.00 / Leather boots – AUD$15.00

Turtleneck knitted top in Grey

#OpShopDiaries: Salvos Elsternwick

Not labeled, may be made in Australia because there are tons of wool production locally. I love the classy look of this top; the fabric is so soft and if I want to be adventurous, I could wear it as is – no pants! But for the autumn season, I still need those leggings!

This is perfect WFH uniform – turtleneck top always makes you look professional especially during ZOOM meetings.

And this cooler weather, pairing it with this denim short and tights, plus the cream trench coat that I’ve got from other op-shop would be a great idea. Of course, for an outgoing look, I paired this with my white sneakers.

Op-Shop deal – AUD$7.00

Striped Brown and Purple knitted top

Just like the grey knitted top, this one is also good for this cooler season. A great outfit as well during weekdays work having a ZOOM meeting with your officemates. I can wear no pants when at home, but this needs one when outdoor.

Op-Shop deal – AUD$6.00

Tweed Blazer ala-Chanel

#OpShopDiaries: Salvos Elsternwick
I know that tweed fabrics make some look like an old rich woman (which is my ultimate goal being a rich woman!) and I love it. Tweed fabrics are the classic, last longer and the silhouette is good. Where tweed jacket or dress if you want to look respectable and rich.

This jacket is in a light color, which is perfect for a sunny day, but I must be very careful wearing this and not get clumsy. Coco Chanel would be very proud!

Op-Shop deal – AUD$8.00

Having these pieces added to this season’s wardrobe would be so lovely and I wouldn’t worry about feeling cold outside. Who wouldn’t have thought that shopping is so much fun here in Australia?!

Until next op-shopping!

xoxo, Blair

    1. Basically, op shop stores are charity stores. All their items are from donations. The store cleanse and arrange them in store like those in department stores, and 100% proceeds will goes to charity. All staffs are volunteers, and it is a great way to help community.

  31. Love the coat and the tweed jacket! I wasn't able to visit a Salvos store when I went to Sydney but I was able to join an event where they curated branded designer items for a fundraiser. There were a lot of really amazing and vintage clothes plus the organizers also gave a quick tour around the displays. Good times, good times :)
