Have you ever realized that Christmas is almost here?!
And for all our friends around the world (yes, including you!) don’t feel shy if you are starting to collect all your Christmas décor in your storage, and getting busy browsing more Christmas décor theme online (Pinterest is a heaven-sent for this department), because hey, we are not here to judge.
Guilty as I charged, my phone has full of Pinterest-inspiration of Christmas things, my husband drives me to various shops for my window-shopping therapy of Christmas knick-knacks, and going home with full of ideas.
Recently, I made a clever idea to upcycled my free Disney+ ooshies that I’ve got from my weekend grocery shopping trips. That little project gives me an amazing feeling, even my stepchildren love the idea (no more ooshies laying around the house!).
I also made some cozy crochet Christmas baubles, and these crafts keep me occupied, I love crafting and designing, and my creations will be this year’s Christmas décor.
Aside from Pinterest, Facebook Marketplace is also a wonderful source of items especially if you are on a tight budget, or you just decided not to spend crazy money on Christmas items. I am telling you; it became my go-to place online!
That being said, I recently found these orphaned vintage teddy bears posted on Facebook Marketplace, and the moment I saw them I knew it was meant to be!
My face lit up and they all give me instant joy, and I knew instantly that I must have them.
Without wasting my time (like I am rushing for a work deadline), I immediately contact the former owner, and thank goodness, there are still available, and they are all for FREE!
I can’t believe it. They are FREE!
And yes, I adopted them all!
They are vintage. And one of them got a really hard time, but still, I find it beautiful. Just like this handmade doll, I found a label from its dress that dated back to 1998. She is an incredibly special teddy bear.
So after we drove 15mins to their former old house, picked them up, and immediately checked their condition, I gave them a loving bath and used my reliable Varnish powder to remove all the dirt and dust they’ve got for years.
After hours of washing and drying, these orphaned teddy bears are not orphaned anymore.
They finally found a new home!
I find them so adorable and cuddly, especially at night when we light-up our main Christmas tree. They are all ready for the holiday season, and I so glad that I stumbled them from Facebook Marketplace.
Did I mention that I got my 8-foot tall Christmas tree for free?!
Yup, from Facebook Marketplace as well back in January.
Who would have thought that I could manage to get all these amazing Christmas items without spending a single cent?!
I am excited more about what I could find from FB Marketplace, right after the Christmas holiday!
Watch my TikTok video here for all the deeds (*wink, wink).

How about you? Have you been checking Facebook Marketplace? Are you starting decorating for the Christmas holiday?
This is a very creative, resourceful way to decorate your home for Christmas!:) Instead of buying new decors, it would be better to use what we have at home, it has value, less cost and will also enhance our creativity! great work!
ReplyDeleteThank you Momma! I thought it would be not a good idea to make a 'revenge shopping' for Christmas decors. Living here in Australia gave me opportunity to be more sustainable, and ma-diskarte :)
DeleteI must say, you have a huge christmas tree para mag-fit yung mga cute teddy bears diyan. Ang saya!!! Di pa namin nakakabit ang christmas tree dito sa bahay pero excited na ko kung anong magiging theme namin ngayon :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Karla! I have another 6-foot tall Christmas tree waiting to setup!
DeleteThis is a great idea! Especially, if you have many toddlers at home, they would love to see toy-decorated Christmas Trees. I remember we have many old teddy bears already hidden.
ReplyDeleteI agree! Although we don't have a toddler here (except the cat), it is nice to have this kind of Christmas décor. Christmas is a season that we are free to feel like a kid again :)
DeleteWe used to do this when we were kids as well. Our christmas tree would be decorated with our old stuff toys just like you did! Kinda thinking of donating our old stuff toys now. Maybe somebody would use them like that as well. Haha
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! Our old toys gave us many memories, and it is nice to put them up in your Christmas tree!
DeleteThis is a unique and great idea! Since I have a little daughter, I will borrow this idea and will also decorate the Christmas tree in this style this year. Thanks for the originality!
ReplyDeleteNina
Aww you are welcome! Your kid will love it!
DeleteThats so nice of you, beautiful way of bringing home the beautiful teddies and decor them up. I liked your idea.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteGrabe ang galeng mo! Who would have thought you can get a Christmas tree for FREE from online! Sana makahanap din ako haha our Christmas tree is about to give up na after 15 years or so lol! I'd love to decorate it with bears too para maiba! :D
ReplyDeleteWow that is a good age for your Christmas tree! Don't throw it away, you can turn those leaves into wreath :)
Deleteomg! that is so cute! Great decoration idea!
ReplyDeleteI try NOT to check out the facebook marketplace cause I know that I'm definitely buying something if I check hahahaha! I love this, and this can also be a nice project for the kids. In case they want a care bears themed christmas tree, they can iron on or make patches for the teddy bears just like those series too.
ReplyDeleteOhh I love Care Bears! I have a cotton duvet with Care Bear prints that I will upcycle soon as my new summer dress :)
DeleteOh wow I've never heard of anyone doing this before - it's such a great idea too! I love how you decorate the tree with them as well.
ReplyDeleteThank you Krista!
DeleteIf only these bears could talk, I bet they would say thank you to you and hug you :P Love the creativity and the Christmas tree feels and looks so cozy.
ReplyDeleteSalamat Jowell! I have this thing with teddy bears! I know that they had an amazing time with their previous owner, and I am happy to continue their life with me. After all, I have a huge storage here :)
DeleteYour Christmas tree looks so fabulous. I'd never noticed (or seen) teddybears as part of one but I think I'll try it out, too.
ReplyDeleteYes you should! Don't throw your kids' toys coz they are nice to turn as Christmas decor.
DeleteVintage makes them really special. I'm not into stuff toys, but these are priceless. If we have room, I would've raced you for them.
ReplyDeleteAww that is true! I took advantage of this bigger space here in our new place. The (stepchildren) are not much into toys, but they like the idea of decorating the house during Christmas :)
DeleteI love this idea! I'm sure kids would have a lot of fun with it.
ReplyDeleteThe youngest loves it the most!
Deletefirst of all.. i was so amazed of the free Christmas tree and the free teddy bears and looks like the bears are really special! and yep. you didnt put up your tree early. i put up mine earlier LOL i think september pa naka put up na sya hahaha!! pero im so happy that you got your Christmas spirits up already!
ReplyDeleteHahaha yeah! I am amazed too how possible that I got three Christmas tree all for free! Apparently, it Australians are not accustomed of using the same Christmas tree through the years. ReplyDeleteWow your birthday will be a huge celebration!
DeleteThis is such a cute and warm giving article. I would have never imagined teddy bears as part of a Christmas tree decor. That's really creative. I am glad the teddies found a home!
ReplyDeleteThank you! If I haven't got them, and no one wants them, they will be all ended to the trash bins! That is horrible for them.
DeleteI have never checked Facebook marketplace but now I am going to check it out. I loved your Christmas tree, it’s giving me positive and festive vibe.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mayuri!

ReplyDeletehahaha, yeah I thought about it, but I already manage their future storage!
DeleteHi Blair, I hope it’s okay that I saved one photo from this post so that my mom could see it. I keep on insisting to her kase about doing something like this for our Christmas tree cuz we have a lot of small plush toys sa bahay. It’s all in my head though of how it would look like but this one’s pretty nailed on how I imagined it would be. You’re very creative and resourceful! Aaah I love how beuatiful your mind works. ☺️💕
ReplyDeleteNo worries! You can share this post to your Mom! Don't throw your toys coz they are great decor especially during Christmas :) And your old toys have full of memories, and that's make Christmas more beautiful!
