I Rescued Orphaned Teddy Bears and Find Them Home Right before Christmas!

Teddy Bear-Themed Christmas Tree
Have you ever realized that Christmas is almost here?!

And for all our friends around the world (yes, including you!) don’t feel shy if you are starting to collect all your Christmas décor in your storage, and getting busy browsing more Christmas décor theme online (Pinterest is a heaven-sent for this department), because hey, we are not here to judge.

Guilty as I charged, my phone has full of Pinterest-inspiration of Christmas things, my husband drives me to various shops for my window-shopping therapy of Christmas knick-knacks, and going home with full of ideas.

Recently, I made a clever idea to upcycled my free Disney+ ooshies that I’ve got from my weekend grocery shopping trips. That little project gives me an amazing feeling, even my stepchildren love the idea (no more ooshies laying around the house!).

I also made some cozy crochet Christmas baubles, and these crafts keep me occupied, I love crafting and designing, and my creations will be this year’s Christmas décor.

Aside from Pinterest, Facebook Marketplace is also a wonderful source of items especially if you are on a tight budget, or you just decided not to spend crazy money on Christmas items. I am telling you; it became my go-to place online!

That being said, I recently found these orphaned vintage teddy bears posted on Facebook Marketplace, and the moment I saw them I knew it was meant to be!

My face lit up and they all give me instant joy, and I knew instantly that I must have them.

Without wasting my time (like I am rushing for a work deadline), I immediately contact the former owner, and thank goodness, there are still available, and they are all for FREE!

I can’t believe it. They are FREE!

And yes, I adopted them all!

They are vintage. And one of them got a really hard time, but still, I find it beautiful. Just like this handmade doll, I found a label from its dress that dated back to 1998. She is an incredibly special teddy bear.

So after we drove 15mins to their former old house, picked them up, and immediately checked their condition, I gave them a loving bath and used my reliable Varnish powder to remove all the dirt and dust they’ve got for years.

After hours of washing and drying, these orphaned teddy bears are not orphaned anymore.

They finally found a new home!

They are now sitting on my 8-foot tall main Christmas tree located in our main lounge room.

I find them so adorable and cuddly, especially at night when we light-up our main Christmas tree. They are all ready for the holiday season, and I so glad that I stumbled them from Facebook Marketplace.

Did I mention that I got my 8-foot tall Christmas tree for free?!

Yup, from Facebook Marketplace as well back in January.

Who would have thought that I could manage to get all these amazing Christmas items without spending a single cent?!

I am excited more about what I could find from FB Marketplace, right after the Christmas holiday!

How about you? Have you been checking Facebook Marketplace? Are you starting decorating for the Christmas holiday?

  1. This is a very creative, resourceful way to decorate your home for Christmas!:) Instead of buying new decors, it would be better to use what we have at home, it has value, less cost and will also enhance our creativity! great work!

    1. Thank you Momma! I thought it would be not a good idea to make a 'revenge shopping' for Christmas decors. Living here in Australia gave me opportunity to be more sustainable, and ma-diskarte :)

    1. I agree! Although we don't have a toddler here (except the cat), it is nice to have this kind of Christmas décor. Christmas is a season that we are free to feel like a kid again :)

  4. We used to do this when we were kids as well. Our christmas tree would be decorated with our old stuff toys just like you did! Kinda thinking of donating our old stuff toys now. Maybe somebody would use them like that as well. Haha

  9. I try NOT to check out the facebook marketplace cause I know that I'm definitely buying something if I check hahahaha! I love this, and this can also be a nice project for the kids. In case they want a care bears themed christmas tree, they can iron on or make patches for the teddy bears just like those series too.
