The year 2020 brought so many changes to our lives and how we do things, including weddings. We are now enjoying the first part of 2021 and still subject to COVID gathering limits, couples are choosing to move forward with their celebrations with a whole new approach to their wedding day.
We all expect that from this year up to the next couple of years, the season for austerity, thus having an extravagant wedding is deemed unnecessary, impractical (logistic wise), and out-of-fashion.
However, there are always alternatives for everything. You might consider these three options if you want to say “I DO” this season.
Downsizing Wedding Plans

MINIMONY
A minimony is a mini ceremony held with your loved ones or simply a moment of commitment shared between yourselves. It typically consists of a party of up to ten (10) people, usually close family and friends – as long as you adhere to social distancing measures.
This is a great option for those who want to honor their original wedding date but plan to host a larger-scale wedding in the future. A minimony does consist of an officiant and is, therefore, a legal wedding, also known as a civil wedding.
This is important, as you won’t need to go through the legal process again at the second bigger event.
MICRO WEDDING
A micro wedding is an intimate affair, typically with no more than 50 guests. They still feature time-honored wedding traditions but on a much smaller scale – often immediate family and super-close friends only. The flexibility and intimate experience are exactly why micro weddings are trending during COVID. Let us make it crystal clear – micro does not mean s small wedding. You can splurge on more as the guests count is less. You have the option to make your micro wedding more luxurious and intimate and to personalize it more according to your taste, personality, and of course budget.
ELOPEMENT
An elopement refers to a marriage conducted in a sudden and secretive fashion. There are no guests in attendance, rather it is just the wedding couple and an officiant. As elopements become more popular, many wedding venues now offer packages that cater to couples who wish to elope. These packages often revolve around granting access to a remote and highly photogenic location. An elopement is a popular choice for couples who would prefer a secluded and intimate wedding. However, the cost of eloping varies depending on where you choose to elope. Couples who want to save money may choose to elope at a location that is open to the public. Another couple may choose to travel to a destination or may be willing to pay for access to and the use of a privately owned property.

Wedding Dress Inspiration in times of COVID
You might be downsizing your wedding plans and number of guests to comply with the COVID restrictions, and finally chosen the right wedding date for your special moment, but your wedding dress must be something special.
We found this latest capsule bridal collection created by the famous Australian designer Aleem Yusuf to give you some wedding feel inspiration.
His bridal capsule collection is inspired by nature and the promise of what would lie ahead.
The themed Dancing in the sunlight is a mesmerizing and intriguing collection that inspires a woman’s journey on finding her own destiny.
Celebrating the individuality of every bride, each piece adds that extra magic to her special day. Encapsulating the feelings of dancing in the sunlight while navigating the challenges of life, each piece is an expression of beauty that is within.
Aleem explores the cut and drape of beautiful and exquisite fabrics that sparkle playfully, befitting the occasion. Layers of hand-cut organza and crystal tulle; delicate beading and embroidery; hand-cut lace applique; flowing chiffon and georgette; structured dupion and gazar; figure-hugging crepe and modern corsetry that is comfortable with considered support and shape that flatters. The juxtaposition of modern silhouettes with classically cut and draped fabrics pays tribute to one of the most important occasions of anyone’s life.
If you are the next bride, which of these dresses speaks to you?
If you have had to cancel or postpone your planned wedding due to current events, consider downsizing it. With the possibility of 2021 weddings continuing to be affected by gathering limits, any wedding can be turned into a minimony, microwedding or elopement with adjustments to the guest list, and making your wedding day special by picking the right wedding date also matters on planning, including your wedding dress! It all depends on what your vision is for the day.
Remember…Love is NEVER canceled!
Such an inspiration. Thank you for sharing. No plans of getting married yet but will definitely save this for later

DeleteWe didn't have a big wedding, but we wish we made it much smaller pa. Hubby and I were talking about how lucky couples are right now because it's one decision they don't have to make.
ReplyDeleteThe trend now is small and more intimate wedding. It is cost-savvy and stress-free!
DeleteI learned something new! Now, I want to have a "minimony" someday! I love the dresses, they are all stunning! But I think will go with the one with the least embroidery !
