When I was a child, I always thought of the feeling of excitement of having a pair of wings. Wings that have glittery effects, and smells like fresh roses, and with my wings, I could fly in the sky and play along with fluffy clouds, while watching the beauty up the ground and below. The birds are my friends, and the beetles are my ladies-in-waiting, delivering whatever news around.
Ahh, sometimes I still have those kinds of childhood dreams.
In the present day, my childhood dreams are my little escape from the reality of adulthood, my little bubble where I can find my joys in life, and eventually a clever idea to incorporate those childhood dreams into my creative adult life.
If only we stay forever as a child – no worries and responsibilities, less stress, and more laughter.
But I never regret being an adult either. Adult life continuously gives me so many surprises, mysteries, leading to excitement and happiness, that I will not be able to understand if I was a child.
Why am I saying this?
Because I believe that our childhood affects how we see things as we become adults. In my case, my childhood memories are my avenues to creativity.
If I don’t have those happy childhood memories, maybe I won’t be able to create fun upcycled dresses!
BTS of dress transformation
…. And have fun with my little furry fairy, Smokey!
After the transformation!
In the process of upcycling the old duvet cover, I felt like I was in the fairy’s world, imagining how life is so colorful and beautiful, that everything will be okay with just a little sprinkle of candies.
My house felt like a castle for me during this self-made photoshoot in the front yard. I felt giggly realizing that my plans for that old textile works all fine and turned into a gorgeous ‘fairy’ dress with magic!
This picture looks so precious surrounding these cute little kids. As an adult carrying my beautiful childhood under my pocket, my little advice is:
“Never lose your childhood. It is the most precious gift you have to keep.”
Bisou!
