While organizing my hard drive full of photos during my previous trips, I found this dress that I made back in 2019.
Even before, it is quite hard for me to find ready-to-wear dresses that will suit my style and budget, hence, I decided to make my own. Back then when I can’t afford a decent sewing machine, I learned to hand stitch all my dresses so wonder I got immunity from being poked by needles.
I still remember exactly where I found this textile. It was in an afternoon at Market Market Mall and I was looking for inspiration from random things. Gladly, I checked this fabric stall and found this banana print textile that was at a special price. Maybe it was an undesirable print, but the idea of wearing a banana print dress, something that not everyone would confidently wear is giving me excitement.
Using the pattern that I just saw from browsing Pinterest (trust me, this app is overloaded with inspiration!), I started crafting my idea, and it took a week to finish the whole outfit by hand sewing each part.
You will notice in most of the DIY dresses that I love ruffles! I love the flirtatious look that the ruffles make to every dress.
We were in Bohol for a vacation when I first wear this dress. We stayed at the luxurious BE Grand Resort where we had an amazing experience. I wish I brought it here in Australia coz this is perfect for my next summer vacation in Queensland.
Or maybe I’ll make a new one using a different print.
Maybe a pineapple?
Cherry-print?
Or strawberry?
What would you suggest?
What do you think of this whole look?
PS. The taste of bananas in the Philippines is tastier and sweeter compared to the banana grown here in Australia.
OMG, I MISS SUMMER IN THE PHILIPPINES!
xoxo, Blair
