I admit that I made a lot of gazes in town when I wore this latest upcycled shirt for a lady’s breakfast with my local friends. They thought it was eccentric, which is a good compliment.
I’ve been recently obsessed with the tulle dresses of Giambattista Valli, combining the ruffles and laces by Simone Rocha, and I’ve been planning on creating an upcycled piece using these inspirations.
Indeed, executing a plan requires time, the right moment, and the appropriate materials.

Although I’ve mentioned previously that the 2024 Pantone Peach Fuzz reminds me of those 1950s interior designs I tried to avoid, somehow, I found a little admiration with this vintage vibe color. With the right color matching, the peachy color doesn’t look bad after all. Bought 5 meters of peachy tulle from Spotlight Traralgon (on special), and diligently made these fluffy ruffles.
I found this old Garfield fabric book under our old house in Cromie Drive in 2020. At first, I didn’t know what to do with them, and decided to keep them because it is vintage and I love Garfield! I often dream of having a real-life ginger fatty cat that I would love to name Garfield.
Garfield sounds badass. |
Fast forward to this year, I finally found a purpose for my Garfield find, and used it as applique for my upcycled shirt.
NO initial designs, just going with the flow as usual and hope that everything will turn out alright.
Well, it seems it did.
What do you think of this new upcycled outfit?
