DIY Christian Dior Inspired Crochet Jacket for Winter

DIY Christian Dior Inspired Crochet Jacket for Winter
As we are currently in a few weeks of Australian winter, I would love to share with you what made me busy recently.

As much as I am learning to enjoy the cold, I prefer to stay indoors (with my cats!) and keep myself busy in many possible ways. That includes making another crochet jacket, using the yellow wool that Grandma Rosemary gifted me, and the yellow crochet blanket that I bought from Baw Baw Op Shop.

I couldn’t resist the glow of this canary yellow wool!

It reminds me of bright sunshine, yellow daffodils in the winter, and those clustered yellow hakea trees along the Princes Way.

However, it also reminds me of that previous DIY Christian Dior-inspired jumper that I made last year, and I reckon that Maria Grazia Churi's collection is still one of my favorites.

And it wouldn’t hurt if I made another piece inspired by her collection, don’t you think?

I started to unstitch the yellow crochet blanket and turn it into a ball of yarn in preparation for this project. I decided to crochet two strands of wool to make the stitches thicker and sturdy. T only makes sense since most of the materials are upcycled.

Then I bought some new black wool to combine with the yellow wool. Like my previous crochet projects, I like using the simple double crochet stitch. It is practical and easy to make.

Overall, this project took three weeks to finish. Definitely, not a fast fashion piece!

And here is the final look of my DIY Christian Dior-inspired Crochet Jacket!

I am so thrilled about this look and Grandma Rosemary is very impressed. She said that this jacket reminds her of The Tigers (Richmond Football Club), with which I totally agree!

Maybe I could wear this jacket again for their next game season.

PS. The black and white pattern is currently in the works!
