Tell us a little about your blog The Doctors Closet and your online store.
My blog started as a stress relief outlet when I was still practicing medicine. I needed an hour of my day to simply relax and work on something non-medical related.
Hence the blog name, The Doctor’s Closet. My blog is a place where I share what’s going on in my life, my current favourite products, home/design items and a few beauty products too.
My shop, SHOPbymonika followed almost three years later. I began to curate my most sought after favourite products and launched an online store. Today you can find items from gold lipstick mugs, cute notebooks to graphic t-shirts!
Your home office looks incredible! What’s your favourite item in there and why?
I love my DIY white and gold shelves. They were so easy to make, and a great price point helps too. I love creating new vignettes and switching out things here and there!
Tell me about your typical day running your blog and online shop.
Honestly, everyday is so different. I create checklist and hop to get my “to-dos” done throughout the day! Typically I start with coffee and my emails and go from there!
How do you keep organized?
My agenda, to-do lists and checklists! That’s the only way I can remember everything going on!
What advice would you give to new bloggers?
I think every blogger answers this question the same. It really comes down to staying true to yourself, style and brand. In other words, don’t be a copycat. Discover your own brand and run with it. Be consistent and you’ll grow fast!
Tell us about the challenges of running a business and being a new Mom and how you manage your time.
Every day looks different, sometimes I only get two things done from my to-do lists. When that happens I have to remind myself not to stress out. Being a mom comes first, but honesty I find it hard not to get too consumed with my workload. Someone once told me, you’ll always find work to do, you’ll always be busy, it’s figuring out when to stop working and find time for everything else important – family, friends and making new memories.
