Adonis Hotel on Purvis Street is the latest Boutique establishment to open it's door in the city hall area.
Just a short drive from the Central Business District, Clarke Quay, the Museum Belt and the Marina Bay area, the Adonis HOtel resides in a picturesque converted shop-house with a choice of 19 rooms spread over five floors.
Regular rooms are comfortably snug but we'd advise going for one of their themed suites like the Photographer, the Explorer and the Artist. These offer much more space, stylish individual decor and features like a private balcony with outdoor hot tub (Artist). We like that all the rooms come with complimentary wifi and mini-bar, especially when stocked with imported beer like Estrella. Other facilities include in-room nepresso machnes, specially teas, in-house luxury toiletries and flat-screen LCD televisions, although there's not much of a choice of cable channels to choose from.
Adonis offers guests a daily 'cocktail hour' between 5pm to 6:30pm, with complimentary wine and beers served at the bar on the ground level, and finger snacks available throughout the day. The breakfast spread needs a little attention but they make a decent scrambled and soft-boiled egg and the service is friendly and helpful throughout. The location of Adonis is excellent, with some of the city's better local restaurants and international choices within short walking distance.
For excellent value French cuisine, created by two young local chefs, head to Saveur just down the street or enjoy fine dining Italian at Garibaldi opposite. Local Asian flavours on Purvis include the institution that is Chin Chin Eating House Chicken Rice, and two affordable Thai restaurants, First Thai and Jai Thai. Adonis is close to City Hall and Bras Basah MRT stations so is a good bet for those on holiday or doing business in teh city.
