MAC has been a busy bee with collaborations lately — Mariah Carey, Guo Pei, Charlotte Olympia and a collection honoring Selena. The list is growing larger, with the announcement on Tuesday that Zac Posen co-created the brand’s next designer collection, which is appropriate, given MAC supported his very first presentation back in 2001.
The red-carpet-favorite designer — everyone from Katie Holmes and Juliette Lewis to Naomi Watts and Glenn Close has worn his gowns — will present his debut line of color cosmetics in February 2016. But the beauty juggernaut released a teaser of what to expect, including the reveal of chic black-and-gold packaging and elegant yet unexpected hues.
Said Posen in a release, "Over the past 15 years, I have learned a great deal from MAC about beauty. Fashion and beauty go hand-in-hand, and I have always wanted to create a makeup collection to complement my designs and brand." For this inaugural outing in the beauty world, he said that he "wanted to keep it luxurious, a little mysterious and clean with a large dose of star wattage."
On MAC’s part, Senior VP/group creative director James Gager said, "Zac’s classic designs and deft hand in draping, textures and overall femininity evoke a kind of throwback glamour that still feels modern. This collection is the perfect encapsulation of both of our worlds, with something sophisticated and sexy for every woman out there." Just a few months to go.
