Art in the Park: Discovering Beautiful Affordable Art in Salcedo Village

affordable art in the Philippines

I can’t deny the fact that summer in the Philippines also means more colorful weekends, brought by numerous festivals and also numbers of city art exhibits.

One of the hobbies I always enjoy is visiting art galleries and public exhibits – a good reason to keep myself updated on the art trends and style concepts.

For almost 10 years, Salcedo Village becomes the avenue of the city’s most young, talented, and fresh artists along with a diverse group of galleries, art schools, independent art spaces, and collectives for the country’s most significant affordable art fair.

Art in the Park is an annual event organized by Philippine Art Events, Inc. for the benefit of the Museum Foundation of the Philippines in its mission to create awareness for the National Museum and its network.

Art in the Park offers visitors a range of paintings, prints, photographs, sculptures, and new media at prices Php 50,000.00 (or $1000) and below.

And if you are new in collecting art pieces, and having a hesitation to gamble huge money for a piece (being skeptical) this fair is a good start for you!

Set in the relaxed and casual atmosphere of Jaime Velasquez Park in the Philippines’ financial capital of Makati City, Art in the Park keeps to its mission of making the visual arts accessible to everyone.

  2. This would be a great place for us to visit however I think we have missed out on it. We will be in Manila from the 1st of October and we leave on the 18th for the TBEX Blogging Convention. We would love to meet you if you will be there. The art in the exhibit really was nice. I especially like the third group of pictures with the dancers.

    1. Hi! If you'll be here for the TBEX, you might like to extend your vacation and visit the bi-annual MANILA FAME, an exhibit and tradeshows of arts, furniture and designs located in World Trade Center in Pasay City, near your convention site. Manila Fame is this October 20 to 22, 2016.

    1. Yeah exactly. Good thing this park is free for public, and especially during weekends they host different events for all. This is also a favorite hangout of most Expats of Makati during weekends, especially if you have kids.

  9. I stayed in Makati when I was in the Phils, and there always seemed to be something going on there, but sadly I didn't see this. Although it wouldn't be the Philippines without food nearby.

  10. These artworks are really cool. We have soem fairs in Manchester too and they seel amazing prints and artworks. That apart we have the annual poster sale. I find it great to stroll around the part and have a look at the artworks . Its nice that you were allowed to photograph them cause in many places there are copyright restrictions.

  11. I love modern art that is still understandable. Sometimes artists go so far away that you don't understand a thing, but it seems like these artists made a great job. Anyway, it seems like the perfect way to spend a day!

  14. It's great that young talented artists are given the opportunity to exhibit their work in the park. I would like to visit such an open space exhibition. It reminds me of the art market in Havana - Cuba, but also of Pizza Navona in Rome - Italy, where artists paint while people pass by and admire their work.
