There is nothing more exciting than planning your getaway with your friends, but nothing is more frustrating than someone backing out at the last minute.
I know I know sometimes that is quite stressful, thus leaving you alone on your trip.
There are pros and cons to traveling solo – and it’s up to you whether you keep on complaining and whining, or just enjoy what the place has to offer.
This morning, I was thrilled and awakened my travel mojo when I stumbled upon this new and unique travel campaign. Brought by the Camiguin Tourism Office, as part of their invitation for everyone to visit the island for this week’s 38th Lanzones Festival until the 31st of October, the island known as the “Island Born of Fire” showcased a relatable travel campaign that breaks the stereotype of every traveler.
You see, check on most travel campaigns in the Philippines and you will see modelesque, good-looking people in the campaign, with all those pretty faces, showing all the physical beauty.
But in Camiguin’s travel campaign video, it was different.
It features an ordinary chatty solo traveler, quite a voluptuous woman, and includes some ordinary citizens of the island, just focusing on the natural beauty and adventures that the island has to offer.
The campaign also features a mute travel guide, who never gets tired of having that wide smile on his face, assuring his guest that everything will be alright, and she will definitely love it.
It was directed and shot in a very natural way, with a hint of comic, and very relatable.
Indeed, the campaign made me speechless… perfect for its hashtag campaign #nowords
You have to #feelcamiguin in order to understand its beauty. No words can perfectly describe it.
Except WOW!
Just like the mute tour guide, you have to trust your instinct, give your trust in order to be trusted, and nature will never disappoint you.
My Verdict:
This travel campaign not only shows the natural, untainted beauty of Camiguin Island but also the genuine sincerity of the people. I believe that this latest video also breaks the stereotype of featuring glamorous models in the video campaign. Travel is for everyone, period.I also think that this video, promotes laughter and an awesome travel experience, and you can showcase your own travel style, as free as the birds.
On a side note, though her tour guide is mute – he is enthusiastically helpful, fun, and also a cute guy! LOL
I honestly felt touched, Camiguin’s video travel campaign made me speechless and somehow teary-eyed because of happiness, wishing that I could visit Camiguin Island someday, and be immersed in the community and its natural beauty.
I am excited about that day, and I bet it will be a memorable one.
Sharing this story, mean I admire this new travel campaign, and I’m looking forward to its series featuring other places, adventures, etc. #NotSponsoredPost
Clap! Clap! Clap!
The Camiguin Tourism Office did a great job!
How I wish the head Tourism Office in Manila, would collaborate and create a travel campaign series, featuring the various region and provinces of the Philippines. I think that will be a great idea, more appealing to local tourists because it’s in Filipinos’ modern culture who loves to what TV series.
Promoting local places to local tourist is such a great idea. As a local, we should act as our own ambassador, because we are the only one who could describe and tells many stories the most about our homeland.

I’m packing my bags, and heading to Camiguin!
Indeed it will be a great idea featuring these destinations in the series. Camiguin looked amazing in your description and photos.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jhilmil. Hope you could visit this beautiful island soon!
DeleteI saw the advertisement few months ago. It was really interesting and brilliant
ReplyDeleteThanks Maya.
DeleteThat sounds like it is so funny. And the best part of it all is that it is so real and not some fake model version of what a vacation should look like. I love that they are being risqué and trying marketing their stuff in a different way.
ReplyDeleteI agree David, and the video campaign is very relatable, and comic as well.
DeleteThats such an innovative way to promote tourism. The pics look lovely too. Love the beach!
ReplyDeleteThank you dear! Hope you can visit the Philippines very soon!
DeleteWhat a great post. So great that they used someone for this campaign that many people can relate to. Constantly using the traditional models gets old. This stands out. Looks like a great fun place to visit! Yay!
ReplyDeleteYes, and the snorkeling experience is fantastic!
DeleteThis is awesome. I have never seen such a natural ad of anyone. Thank you
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome and thank you for loving this campaign.
DeleteI had a good laugh watching this video. It is very relate-able. Well, when others back out of a plan, we can only try our best to enjoy the holiday, right?
ReplyDeleteI know right! And I wouldn't say NO for a cute tour guide, hahahaaha
DeleteYes I am tired of perfect looking people traveling and families that the kids never cries...big size people travel to! I will check the video! And Camiguin looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dada! You will have a good laugh!
DeleteOut tourist office here could never come up with something so original and creative! It's a pity that year after year all we see is "Live your myth in Greece"
ReplyDeleteOh maybe you can send them proposal teaming with fellow Greece-based bloggers. I believe there are many other aspects that needs to promote Greece other than the stereotype of having a lovely beach and home of myth stories.. But I also wish to be in Greece!
DeleteSo nice to see real people traveling and enjoying themselves. Love that not the perfect models.
ReplyDeleteThanks dear! Now that this video went viral, and only costs a little, means the campaign is very effective!
DeleteI love the campaign! It made me smile and also go visit Camiguin! I've never heard of this place before.
ReplyDeleteThank you dear! See you here in Camiguin!
DeleteI really liked Camiguin tourism campaign as it breaks the stereotype! The Camiguin looks absolute paradise and a dream destination for a perfect getaway!
ReplyDeleteI agree. I am sold just watching the campaign, and not because a celebrity endorsed it.
DeleteThis was such a fun post to read and I loved looking at the pictures. I agree it is nice to see a natural person doing their campaign. Sometimes seeing all of the glamorous models etc, it makes it hard to envision yourself there. I think they did a great job. I appreciate you sharing this.
ReplyDeleteThank you Becky for appreciating :D

DeleteI love how beautifully positive the campaign is. From the mute tour guide to showing the locals authentically I love how it challenges and dispels stereotypes!
ReplyDeleteI agree, and its relatable there are times you can only say WOW!
DeleteI like how this campaign choose to focus more on the destination itself instead of the celebrity that endorses it, and make more people feel better in their skins along the way
ReplyDeleteI agree. Because in travel, it doesn't choose color or size. We all must have fun with the nature.
DeleteI love how relatable the ad is! It really is a great way to promote tourism in a way that is believable.

DeleteI love that this travel campaign shows a normal woman traveling rather than some model. Not everyone is a stick figure and that's okay. It looked like she was really enjoying her time.
ReplyDeleteI agree. She is good, and very relatable, I want to book my flight now. Am feeling jealous!

ReplyDeleteYeah I agree on that point. However, some likes to travel alone to avoid some certain hassles.
DeleteHey Blair, I really like the sound of this campaign from the Camiguin tourism board, and wanted to watch the video - but the link goes to a broken page :( let me know when it's back up and running, as I'd love to share this (and your post) on my Facebook page xx
