Yesterday, Christian Louboutin shared his newest bag collection inspired by his travel in Manila, Philippines.

"Manilacaba" is a new bag of the Fall / Winter Collection of 2018, a bag that decorates the last part of the popular limited bag "Hiba" series three copies following "Africa Ba" "Mexicana".

Christian Louboutin, traveled to the Philippines last November 2017 and was truly mesmerized by its unique beauty. "I am conceived from the diverse cultures and traditions of the Philippines", he said.

On the front of the bag embroidered with sequins and cotton threads, playfully expressing jealousy together. He also portrays the passionate lifestyle of Manila people in a bold pattern on the lining, with words "Makati", "The Philippines", "With Love" and "No Selfies".

The bags have these famous jeepney designs embroidered in satin and denim fabrics and incorporated with handwoven fabrics made by local artisans from the Mindanao region. The vibrant colors of these bags translate the unique beauty of the whole Philippines, and how creative and talented these artisans are.

Manilacaba bag's anatomy

Manilacaba bags are composed of various traditional Philippine textiles. The left side panel of the bag features Yakan backstrap loom weaves from Basilan, while the right side panel is made of Binakol opt art weaves that originated from the Itneg tribe of Northern Luzon. The bottom of the bag features the T'nalak, which is the traditional tapestry of the T'boli from South Cotabato. The sequined pattern, called  K'gal Entilas, is usually seen on the traditional T'boli garb worn by women on special occasions.

The color which made use of the brightness of the Philippine style design is woven into symmetry and the name of the designer is also treated on the side. Eye-catching shining sequins sewn around the red frame in the center are reminiscent of the pearl color of shells captured in various parts of the Philippines.

The handle uses the spike which is the signature of "Christian Louboutin".

The designer collaborates with the local women entrepreneurs and artisans of the non-profit organization "GREAT Women" (Gender Responsive Economic Action for the Transformation of Women). I am so thrilled to see this collection and very proud that our rich Filipino designs and cultures are becoming known worldwide!

These limited-edition bags are now available online at Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman.

Even Japanese actress and model Yu Yamada loves Manilacaba!

We've got a scoop from our friends in Tokyo that the Isetan Shinjuku store in Japan is currently hosting a Pop-up shop for this collection starting yesterday May 2nd until May 13, 2018.

These two tote bags are priced at $1,700++ (+ tax) each.
