Beauty Hack: How to Clean and Reuse your False Eyelash

Beauty Hack: How to Clean and Reuse your False Eyelash

As a beauty editor of FUW, I probably the last person you want to take false eyelash beauty advice. Not that I don’t like wearing false eyelashes, because I admit how dramatically it can change my look with this pair of miracle, but because I rarely wear them (I’m no Kardashian were falsies are must-have in every shopping list) and just relying on some generous beauty brand (*wink) for a gifted pair because it is expensive.

Not all falsies created equal

And usually, the amount of wears you can get out of a pair depends on how the lashes are made.

I remember wearing the first cheap falsies that I’ve got from a drugstore which made me look like so plastic, ala Barbie. Didn’t last, and I immediately throw them away coz the strands are falling.

For one thing, natural animal hairs tend to last longer than synthetic hairs. While animal hair lashes are able to provide around 20-30 wears, synthetic lashes can usually only provide around 3-8 wears. The bands on strip lashes can also make a difference, as thicker bands tend to be more durable than thinner bands. So even though they may be a little harder to master, those thick strips can give you more wears.

However, the number of times a pair of strip lashes can be reused isn't totally up to the materials. The way you take care of your falsies can also have an effect on how long they last.

To make sure you're getting the most wears from each pair of lashes (and the most bang for your buck), here’s what I do to care for my false eyelashes.

When applying for eyelash glue, I make sure to apply a thin layer. It would not look clumpy and easier to removed.

Some beauty gurus mentioned using a tweezer to remove your false eyelashes, but I never did because I’m too clumsy (I’m concern about not accidentally hurting my eyeballs).

Instead, I’m using cotton pads with NIVEA MicellAIR solution and gently wipe it on my eyelid which surprisingly also removed my false eyelashes without hurting my natural short eyelashes. This 3-in-1 makeup remover removes the glue gently, and my full makeup in just a few wipes.

Once false eyelashes are removed, I gently wiped them again with cotton pads soaked in NIVEA MicellAIR to cleanse them fully.

Don’t forget to wipe it dry and store neatly in your falsies case.

And if you are after for an investment false eyelash, you should this MUA and entrepreneur Olivia Epifano’s newest falsies venture, The Lavish Lash Lounge. Her wide lash collection is favorites of many of Australia’s beauty fans. Price ranges from AUD$15 to AUD$22, her false eyelashes collection is made in the highest quality, stressed to be vegan, and can be reused up to 30times!

And just like that, you’ve got yourself two good-as-new falsies, without spending an extra dollars.

I don't normally wear one also, but I super like how it can instantly transform your look from blah to wow! So it's nice to invest in good ones din. :)
