How to Make Rainbow-Themed Crochet Christmas Baubles

How to Make Rainbow-Themed Crochet Christmas Baubles
Christmas is near, and I can’t help singing these happy songs.

And who wouldn’t be so excited for Christmas?! I’ve slowly installed my Christmas trees and decorating, without costing my arms and legs.

In this post, I would love to share with you my recent crafting project which includes crocheting. I shared previously about my crocheted Christmas baubles (link here), and I am so grateful that it received an amazingly positive response from you all. And I thought of making another Christmas bauble designs to make this year’s holiday craftier and more festive.

Here’s I made these rainbow-themed crocheted Christmas baubles!

Materials:
A bag of plastic pit balls (my Aussie Grandma found them from the street yard while she’s walking her dog, Pippy)
A rainbow-colored yarn Lion Brand, which I got from Spotlight
Crochet hook
A pair of scissors
Scraps of velvet fabric
Lots of patience!

Yes, this project needs a lot of patience.

There is no specific pattern for this one, but the idea is to wrap this plastic pit ball with yarn through crocheting. I only use the simple double-stitch crochet pattern, not elaborative because the yarn is already festive. The fact that the color gradient of this yarn is so beautiful and made me so excited.

This yarn that I have used is 100% acrylic, quite soft, and got a fine texture. It is quite easy to crochet and does not fade. I got this yarn from Spotlight for AUD$6.00, also nice for making bonnet hats!

This gradient shade is called No. 201 - Boardwalk Promenade. This yarn is apparently made in Turkey (how fancy!).

After I fully covered the pit ball, I also made a chain stitching for the handle. Then cut strips of emerald green velvet scrap fabrics and tied them on the balls to make a ribbon. No need to use any glue!

I managed to make 8 Christmas baubles, yey!

These rainbow-colored Christmas baubles will be sitting on my third Christmas tree at home.

I am so excited to show you my Christmas trees, in my separate blog post.

It made me feel so good that I managed to decorate my Christmas trees, without having a spending spree.

What do you think of these Christmas baubles?

  2. Oh my gosh, I love this so much! I am big on rainbows! I don't think I could make it though, I am pretty terrible with yarn. But I'd buy one!

    1. Thanks dear! But I guess one thing that I might be able to do is to make a sweater. With that, I prefer to buy a ready-made.
