Warragul - Dairy Capital of Victoria

Warragul, Victoria
Where is this place? Apparently, this is one of the beautiful places to live in Victoria.

Warragul also is known as the Dairy Capital of Victoria, is located 104 km south-east of Melbourne via the Princes Highway. It is 112 meters above sea level.

Warragul (comes to an Aboriginal word meaning “wild dog”) has become the economic hub - a vital rural service centre - of West Gippsland. It is at the heart of the rich dairy area and consequently supplies both Melbourne and substantial sections of the country with fresh milk. The surrounding area, known for its green hills and lush pastures, is mixed farming with beef and dairy cattle, apples, potatoes, flowers, poultry, and eggs all being part of the agricultural mix.

As of this writing, I am now enjoying the Warragul lifestyle for about 11months and it is one of the best experiences I ever have.

It is also less than an hour drive to the city, which is also convenient!

Check how beautiful this thriving town in Gippsland with our videos below

  6. How is public transport in Warragul? Is it efficient or is it better to have a car? I am not planning to move there but I'd love to check it out! Is it better to fly in Avalon or Melbourne? I look forward to your tips! Thank you for sharing this and I'll definitely watch the videos!

    1. You can fly to Melbourne internationally, then catch a bus to the train station in Southern Cross. Each towns have their own train station so it is also convenient to travel. But the most convenient is drive your own car (driver's on a right seat!). Taxi is expensive, don't take it!

  7. Warragul looks so pretty in the spring. Just look at those flowers. Bird watching looks wonderful, too. I would like to sit at the park and watching them flying by. The fact that the location is less than an hour from the big city, it's really a great point.

  8. I'm a big fan of rural areas. It reminds us to slow down and savor the simple things...like looking up to enjoy the birdlife. That video was beautiful! I feel like people don't appreciate birds enough but if you understand the nuances between species, you'll be entertained wherever you go in the world.

    1. I agree with you. Many of my friends finds birds watching a very boring activity, but I disagree. Maybe I learned this kind of appreciation from hanging out with older people, and learn from them a lot. Bird watching is very relaxing, very therapeutic!

  10. I was living in Melbourne but never knew about Warragul. I love such rural areas and it is really a great miss for me when I am reading your post. Good to know it is only an hour drive from city. Also as it is dairy capital and from your videos it really looks a beautiful drive, next time I would surely visit this cute little place with so many bird species, and nature.
