52Days of No COVID Transmission, and I made some facemask for Christmas!

Christmas print facemask
Who is excited for this Christmas?!

I am writing this blog with a few awesome numbers!

First, today marks my 365-days since I arrived here in Australia back on December 21, 2019.

Second, today is Victoria’s 52th-day of no COVID community transmission, meaning we are very excited to hit the Christmas day without any outbreak (hold-on tight VIC!), and

Third, I made ten (10) new facemasks using the flatpack Christmas fabric prints that I’ve got weeks ago from Spotlight.

Although the VIC State government already relaxed our rules on wearing a facemask, there are still some instances that we are required (or should I say ‘mandatory’) to wear a mask. For instance, if I am going to Woolies and Coles, or even visit the nearest KMART and Bunnings for my regular shopping shenanigans, I am required to wear a mask inside the premises of these shops, same with other places which is quite a challenge to observe social distancing.

However, if we are just walking in the park for our exercise, or just for a picnic, and social distancing is possible, then we are not required to wear a mask. We can enjoy the fresh air, do bird watching, enjoy the garden, play with kids and our friends without restriction.

That is why it is every Victorians' new normal that everyone always carries a facemask with them.
So, I decided to make my facemask a little festive!

Using the easiest pattern I had from my previous facemask tutorial, these festive Christmas facemask looks so adorable!

I wear it during my usual trip to the grocery shops!

And during my recent trip from Brisbane airport to Melbourne airport.

Yes, it is mandatory to wear a face mask if you are flying to, from, and within Victoria State.

We recently flew via Qantas from Melbourne to Brisbane, then Brisbane to Melbourne and we learned that wearing a facemask is not mandatory in Queensland State. But as a diligently and obedient Victorian, we have to wear it. Qantas is also recommending that all passengers traveling from and within Victoria, must need to wear a mask as soon as you enter the airport and also inflight. When traveling to Victoria, you'll need to wear your mask during boarding and inflight.

While wearing a face mask isn’t mandatory on other flights, it’s strongly recommended that you wear a face mask for everyone’s peace-of-mind.

After all, I love to flaunt my fabulous festive Christmas facemask!

And being considerate to others is a simple gift that you could share with your community.

Let’s help each other to stop the spread of the coronavirus and make everyone safe and merry this holiday season!

    1. A simple act of following the rules like wearing the mask, frequent sanitizing, and observe social distancing works. VIC State government also supports those who lost their jobs by giving them 'jobseeker payments' every month until such time their get back on track. We also have many volunteers for those people who needs help for their shopping and errands especially for those old people who lives alone, and for those who are not feeling well.

It is all about the community and local government efforts as a whole. VIC State have a sense of strong support from their residents. Everything is provided!

    1. Not everyone outside are very cooperative and that is sad. However, you can only control yourself and encourage your family to wear a mask for their own safety. You can't rely to government for everything.
